Endorsement: Weaponized Drone Ban Treaty

The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration endorses the Campaign for a Weaponized Drone Ban Treaty. True to our Franciscan calling, we commit ourselves to building Christ's Kingdom of justice and peace. We continue our efforts to preserve and nurture God's creation, to increase social and global consciousness, to educate ourselves to political awareness and to encourage action to effect change where necessary.

We urge the UN General Assembly, UN Human Rights Council and relevant United Nations committees to immediately investigate violations of International Law and human rights by state and non-state actors perpetrating aerial drone attacks.

FSPA in the News

Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Katie Mitchell was recently interviewed on Catholic Chicago Radio, a live streaming program hosted by the Archdiocese of Chicago, and the discussion revolved around her ministry with migrants ("The thing that changes hearts is meeting them, hearing their stories"), her call to religious life (that began at age 12 when she saw the movie "The Song of Bernadette"), attraction to FSPA ("We seek to be Eucharist for others") and the St. Francis Day tradition of blessing pets ("There's a reflection of God's love in our love for pets"). Messy Jesus Business

"What causes you to persist and have the grit?" asks Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration Julia Walsh of Father Greg Boyle, a Jesuit priest and director of Homeboy Industries an organization serving gang members in Los Angeles in Episode 65 of the Messy Jesus Business Podcast, "Staying with the God of love." His response? "Take seriously what Jesus took seriously: inclusion, nonviolence, unconditional, loving kindness and compassionate acceptance." This is a conversation that you don't want to miss!
