Labor Day
Seems like just yesterday we were anxiously awaiting the unofficial beginning of the 2022 beach season as Memorial Day loomed large on the calendar and now, in what seems to be a blink of the eye, the unofficial end of our summer season is upon us as we get ready to celebrate Labor Day. In between these two holidays Rehoboth Beach has played host to thousands of visitors having once again made the trek from cities and towns across the United States and beyond to bask in the sun on our glorious beaches and spend quality time with family and friends wiling away the days strolling the board walk, playing games, riding rides and eating plenty of French fries, ice cream, pizza and more while enjoying entertainment at the band stand and elsewhere across town. Rehoboth in Bloom has been busy all summer tirelessly caring for the myriad of planters proudly displaying a rainbow of colors for all to enjoy. The holiday celebrates the many contributions workers have made to America's strength, prosperity, and well-being; Rehoboth provides a place for them to enjoy the fruits of their labor. While you are out and about celebrating this month, Rehoboth Beach Main Street would like to showcase some businesses in town we think you will like. They are sure to bring a sense of joy and contentment to all who partake of their services or products.

Shorebreak offers weekly specials, including fresh fish, meats, and soups, plus a large selection of wines. Just 133 steps to the Atlantic Ocean, Shorebreak is an excellent choice for your dining experience.
For the shoppers among you, Sassy Chic is a small family-owned and operated gift shop featuring hand crafted items, embroidery/monogramming, and other gift items. Sassy Chic takes orders for custom embroidery and monogramming, as well as offering all of their items at this site.
A truly unique decor will greet you as you enter Freddie's, an LGBTQ+, straight-friendly restaurant and bar. Enjoy happy hour with discounted beverages and special menus between 4-7 pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The hours are adjusted when special events happen. Another great place to dine is Arena's, a locally owned and operated fixture in downtown Rehoboth Beach since 1990, serving the same great high-quality food with large portions. Arena’s offers casual family-friendly dining and catering, as well as live in-house entertainment.

It all started by Lynn wanting to make special place settings for her family Christmas dinner. She hand-painted personalized glasses and plates for everyone and couldn’t believe how they turned out. It went from family outings to local craft shows then regional craft shows. 1st State Sassy Glass was born and doing well. An opportunity presented itself and the business went from 1st State Sassy Glass to Sassy Chic, an RBMS Green Partner. Read More

Freddie’s Beach Bar and Restaurant
Peter Beck
On a sweltering hot early August morning, one of my neighbors texted that one of her friends had canceled at the last minute to enjoy local legend Pamala Stanley performing at Freddie’s Beach Bar and Restaurant. I immediately jumped at the chance, knowing I was in for an extremely enjoyable evening!
When we got to Freddies we sat at the bar, where we had a perfect view of the area where Pamala was to perform. Our party looked around the room and marveled at all the Barbie dolls on display on the shelves in the room. The decor was casual and comfy, and we immediately relaxed and cooled off from the intense summer heat. Read More

Arena’s Deli & Bar
Peter Beck
On a beautiful August afternoon, I was about to entertain three friends for lunch. Even though I had plenty of time to put together a marvelous feast, I just didn't have the energy to fuss, and I thought it would be easier to order sandwiches and avoid the hassle of cooking. Since my guests included two vegans and two carnivores, I knew that I needed to find a great deli that would meet our demands. Read More

An Appreciation
Happy Anniversary, Dan!
August 26th marked Dan Slagle’s 3rd anniversary as Rehoboth Beach Main Street’s Executive Director and only full-time employee! We are so grateful to have Dan steering our ship. His hard work has resulted in the amazing growth of RBMS over the last 3 years, both in membership and the services we provide to our members and the community. Dan grew up in Cecil County, Maryland and, seeking a fresh start, came to Rehoboth Beach in 1998 to open the Hidden Treasure B&B. Dan started with RBMS as a volunteer on the Promotions Committee while he was still the manager at the Spice and Tea Exchange on Rehoboth Avenue. Dan says he was excited about RBMS’ mission and was delighted to pitch in as a volunteer. But then, Dan was encouraged to apply for the opening as RBMS Executive Director. Amazing things happen when the right people, right place, right time, and right mission come together! Read More

500 Stockley Street
We love living in our coastal communities surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the lakes, and bays. These natural resources contribute to our economy, environment, and quality of life. But, they also threaten our community as the result of dangerous conditions created by global warming, climate change, and sea level rise.
At the workshop you will learn about environmental threats that we can no longer avoid. You will also learn:
- Strategies to prepare for these dangerous threats;
- How to build sustainable communities;
- How to protect your property, health, and safety; and
- How our lakes are regulated.
Mark your calendar now! For more information, contact JKONESEY@GMAIL.COM.

Yes, I Can Say That: When They Come for the Comedians, We Are All in Trouble
September 4, 11:00am to Noon
123 Rehoboth Avenue
In Yes I Can Say That, comedy veteran Judy Gold argues that "no one has the right to tell comics what they can or cannot joke about…. Laughter is a unifier. It's the best medicine. It's also the most palatable way to bring up seditious, subversive topics.” For Gold, nothing is more insidious than enforcing silence and repressing jokes—the job of a comedian is to expose society's demons and confront them head-on, no prisoners allowed. In ten impassioned polemics, she frames comedy as a tool of empowerment, a way to reclaim hateful rhetoric and battle the democracy-crushing plight of censorship. Read More
