Dear Residents -

The weather has certainly not been cooperating with us lately. But I am happy to report that, despite Mother Nature, the Pearl River Farmers Market by the SOUK is still ON for tomorrow at the Central Avenue Field in Pearl River. The rain should be stopping early enough for them to officially open with so many different vendors. You really do not want to miss this one. Check out their great lineup and we hope to see all of you out there tomorrow between 10 am and 2 pm.

Fortunately, once the rain moves out on Saturday morning, the day will be dry for other events taking place. On Saturday, there is Colonial Day, which will be held on the grounds of the DeWint House, and on Sunday, Discover Nyack Beach State Park Day, where visitors will be introduced to this gem along the Hudson River shoreline (please note advance registration is required).

Due to a blood shortage in the area, there are multiple blood drives being held locally. To check out the local listings, please click here. Regrettably, due to the ongoing construction at Town Hall, Orangetown will not be having its annual blood drive this year. If you can, please consider donating.

Have a great weekend everyone! And just remember, like Annie says, the sun will come out tomorrow (for those who don’t know what I am talking about, click HERE).

Stay safe and stay dry!

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Caribbean Food Delights Groundbreaking Ceremony

This week, Supervisor Kenny attended a groundbreaking ceremony at Caribbean Food Delights, a leading Caribbean frozen food manufacturer of Jamaican Style Patties. The company, which began its operations in 1978 in the Bronx and is celebrating its 45th anniversary, is now located at its 103,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Tappan, New York. The company is upgrading and expanding its operations, making a long-term commitment to the Town of Orangetown, and is looking forward to a ribbon cutting ceremony in the spring of 2024. Thanks to Chief Executive Officer Sabrina HoSang Jordan for the invitation.

Community Gun Buyback

Supervisor Kenny, NYS Senator Bill Weber and Donna Chiapperino, representing Congressman Mike Lawler, attended the gun buyback program that was held in Orangetown this week. Thanks to the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, who held the program in partnership with the Orangetown Police Department, the New York State Police, and the RC District Attorney’s Office, and which resulted in 35 guns being collected.
