Honors House

Honors House is a coeducational

community for members of the University Honors Program (UHP). It houses approximately 50 students in a renovated residence hall just west of campus.

The house provides a focused living environment for students with a passion for learning. The UHP encourages students to reach their full potential through cultural and performing arts events, skill development workshops, travel

opportunities and challenging coursework. A main goal of the program is to enable students

to develop intellectual curiosity about the world, its wonders and its complexity.

Current Senior Staff in the Honors House is Jacob (ACDI) and Whitney (AD).

Smurthwaite Scholarship and Leadership House

Smurthwaite Scholarship and Leadership House provides an opportunity for women to develop leadership skills in a smaller community of about 46 students. Smurthwaite residents pay lower room and board rates in exchange for participation in leadership programming and contribution to house-related duties each week.

Residents participate in a wide variety of activities

and events that emphasize education, diversity

and community service.

Smurthwaite staff and residents have five pillars which guide the engagement of the community: Leadership, Scholarship, Friendship, Service, Equity.

Current Senior Staff in Smurthwaite is Alivia (ACDI) and Whitney (AD).

Jardine Apartment Complex

Hillcrest Garden and Lakeside Plaza

There are two neighborhoods within Jardine that operate with a full time Community Coordinator and a graduate student Assistant Community Coordinator each. Jardine Apartment complex is comprised of 36 buildings, across 50 acres and with over 90 floor plans housing over 1,500 residents.

The residential community in Jardine is quite diverse with undergraduate, graduate and doctorate level students in addition to spouses and children. There is a large number of international residents and family members who represent over 50 different countries. Additionally, majority of student athletes who live on-campus are housed in the Jardine Apartments as the complex is conveniently located directly adjacent to K-State Athletic facilities.

Jardine Housing staff work to provide intentional programming that promotes autonomy in apartment living, while creating monthly complex wide programming that promote community with attendance of over a hundred residents. Jardine Apartments have long standing traditions such as the Jardine Community Garden where residents may purchase a small plot of land to grow their own garden in the summer. The complex operates on four guiding pillars: Global, Education, Imagination, and Tradition.

Jardine Senior Staff work collaboratively to co-supervise 20 student staff and delineate responsibilities using two different neighborhoods: Lakeside Plaza and Hillcrest Garden.

Current senior staff in Jardine are:

Hillcrest Garden: Julie (CC) & Carissa (ACC)

Lakeside Plaza: Alex (CC) & Troy (ACC)
