Welcome 4-H Rep, Julie Salomonson
We are pleased to welcome Julie as our new 4-H Representative. She will begin next week with training, but you will be able to see her at the Ventura County Fair.
Julie Salomonson has always loved 4-H. Growing up on the family farm in Berthoud, Colorado the youngest of 6 kids, she participated in 4-H from before she could be an official member until attending Colorado State University. Competing in the 4-H National Fashion Review, catching a steer in Larimer County Fair Catch-A-Calf contest and creating lifelong friends while participating in 4-H all created memories that brought her back to the program when raising her three kids in Ventura.
Over the past 8 years Julie has served on the Ventura County 4-H Management Board, participated in creating and leading many county wide events, most recently Presentation Day in May, and has been the Community Leader for the Loma Vista 4-H Club. Julie is looking forward to working with all of the 4-H’ers and volunteers in Ventura County to build a vibrant and engaging 4-H program.
Prior to working for 4-H Julie worked in product development creating and manufacturing fragrance products and specialty bedding for national retailers. Welcome Julie!

At the Fair...
The 2021 Ventura County Fair will soon be upon us. Hundreds of 4-H members participate each year, and it is a wonderful experience. 4-H is a guest of the Ventura County Fair, and we appreciate the opportunities the Fair affords our members to participate, to grow, to learn and to share their projects with thousands of fairgoers. Please remember:
-
The 4-H Codes of Conduct for youth, adult volunteers and parents as well as 4-H Policies are available for reference at 4h.ucanr.edu
- Conflicts and concerns sometimes arise at the Fair. Our hope is that these conflicts and concerns are addressed fairly, quickly and in a mutually respectful fashion. If the conflict is around a Fair rule, regulation or policy, 4-H volunteers and staff may refer you to the Fair staff. 4-H members and volunteers are subject to Fair rules. If the issue cannot be resolved amongst those directly affected, please contact a club leader or key 4-H volunteer who can help manage the situation.
- A valuable lesson is that in life and judging, things don’t always go as we want them to. No matter how great the disappointment (or joy), 4-H members should be respectful of judges, and the judging processes.
- Have a wonderful time. Make new friends. Show off your 4-H spirit and shine!
