Wishing to improve your writing? The Business Communication Lab recommends that you following these helpful tips. This week's tip is centered on run-on sentences.
Run-on sentences are one of the most common problems in writing. Because popular word processors like Microsoft Word and Google Docs can overlook these mistakes, you need to understand the elements of a sentence to avoid them.
Use coordinating conjunctions to connect your ideas
Coordinating conjunctions are words that connect items in your sentences and include “and,” “but,” “so,” “or,” “for,” “nor,” “yet.” When connecting two independent clauses in a sentence, use a comma and coordinating conjunction. The comma should always come before the coordinating conjunction.
Ex. “Laticia wrote the report, and Ahmet revised it.”

"As an overwhelmed, busy college student, just like most of my peers, it can be difficult to make sure we are taking proper care of our wellbeing. Our bodies do so much for us, and we all must remember to thank them. Whether it be doing face mask, going for a walk on a sunny day, or even treating yourself to your favorite coffee, I try and do one thing each day for my well-being, and you should, too! Wellness, fitness, and balance are all passions of mine!"
