Update to the CaterTrax Webisite

On behalf of the Aladdin Dining Services

Aladdin Dining Services has recently updated the CaterTrax site, where all catering is ordered for the campus. With this update, you will notice several changes including the following:

  • The addition of a Student Menu, available with discounted pricing for student clubs and organizations only
  • The addition of a Snacks and Fun things Menu, great for the many social events hosted on campus
  • The addition of an External Menu available for our public events held on campus,
  • A 50 % increase in available food and beverage options
  • The ability to order linen and bar services directly

Although this site is live, it is still a work in progress and changes will be made as we navigate the site over the next few weeks. For example, we still need to add our popular bacon wrapped jalapenos! Please take the opportunity to explore the site and our new offerings.

In the next few weeks, we will be hosting a CaterTrax training to discuss the new menu and offer the opportunity to taste some of the new creations. Until then, please email or call Jerry Carter at 719.671.6566 for any questions you have regarding the site.

NEW: Fall 2023 Graduation Contract Deadline

On behalf of the Registrars Office

The due date for Fall 2023 graduation contracts is 5:00 p.m. on 09/15/23. Contracts may still be submitted after this date, however a $25 late fee will automatically be assessed and placed on the student bill.

All electronic contracts should be sent to the designated email: graduationcontracts@csupueblo.edu.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND DUPLICATE COPIES OF CONTRACTS IN EITHER ELECTRONIC OR HARD COPY FORMAT, AS THIS CREATES CONFUSION AND HINDERS THE ENTRY PROCESS.

Please review the following common issues on all graduation contracts before submission:

• Intended semester for graduation, catalog year, degree intent and all major(s), emphasis area(s) and minor(s) are correct and reflect what is in Banner and on DARS audit.

 • All DARS audit deficiencies noted are fixed PRIOR to contract submission. (Exceptions and petitions must be reflected on the DARS audit prior to submission.)

• ALL required signatures are present.

• A current “green” DARS audit is attached and reflects accurate student enrollment information. For electronic contract submission please save the audit as a pdf and attach it to the email.

All contracts are reviewed before being placed in the degree conferral queue. If any of the above issues are found, the contract will be returned for corrections before being placed in the queue, and may then be subject to a late fee if re-submitted after the deadline.

Please note that degree conferral and participation in the commencement ceremony follow separate processes and deadlines. The information in this announcement refers solely to degree conferral. Information regarding the commencement ceremony can be found at https://www.csupueblo.edu/commencement/index.html or by emailing commencement@csupueblo.edu.

On behalf of the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs

The goal of the Discovery Research PreK-12 program (DRK-12) is to catalyze research and development that enhances all preK-12 teachers' and students' opportunities to engage in high-quality learning experiences related to the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Nutrition for Mental Health Fundamentals!!

On behalf of the Psychology Department

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough for Mental Health? Well, yes…when it’s made with chickpeas! (Trust me, it’s delicious!) An estimated 90% of our serotonin is made in the gut, which is driven by the more than 100 trillion bacteria that live there. And when they’re happy, they work hard to make us happy! Chickpeas contain the fiber they love, as well as the tryptophan, B6, and iron needed to make serotonin. Not sure about the cookie dough? What about Kung Pao Chickpeas? Crispy Roasted Chickpeas? Chickpea Masala? In this class we’ll explore different foods and recipes as we learn about vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients; the gut-brain-immune axis; hormones and the HPA axis; and neurotransmitters like serotonin and acetylcholine. We’ll also talk about food sensitivities, food allergies, popular diets, and why it’s best to ditch inaccurate markers of health like weight and BMI, using current research as backup every step of the way. This class stands alone or serves as a prerequisite to Advanced Nutrition for Mental Health, to be offered next Spring. And that Cookie Dough? We’ll be trying it together in class! You’ll also get dinner each week, a direct application of the material we’re learning. Week 1 is chili and cornbread!

Certificate in Nutritional Psychology!!

On behalf of the Psychology Department

Check out the only Nutritional Psychology certificate in the country being offered by a regionally accredited university! 12 credits, with two required courses and two electives. Nutritional Psychology is an emerging, exciting field exploring the relationship between nutrition and mental health. While typically focused on nutrients and dietary considerations, our certificate broadens out to include why we eat the way we eat, personal food relationships, botanicals and fungi for mental health, and cannabinoids. This certificate stands alone, though students can overlap one elective with their psychology major. Practicing clinicians are also very welcome (w/ PSYC 380 waivable for those with appropriate nutrition education)! Check us out at the link below!

Need Help Putting Together a Successful Grant Proposal?

On behalf of Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

CSU Pueblo has recently employed Hanover research to provide targeted guidance for the university's programmatic and research grant activities by helping faculty and staff craft the most competitive submissions to secure more external grant funding.

Hanover is available to provide insights to identify, craft, and submit the most competitive proposals, including - Capacity Development (the development of the institutional capacity to pursue and manage grant funding through training, strategic assessment, and benchmarking.

Includes grantsmanship workshops, one-on-one guidance, and cohort-based support through Hanover's Grant Academy); Funding Research (exploring and evaluating grant opportunities aligned to programs, funding levels, and research needs.

Facilitates planning through research on historical and future funding trends while monitoring which funders our peers are targeting.); Pre-Proposal Support (streamlining the assessment and development of competitive project concepts, helping to navigate funder expectations and providing coaching on program officer outreach before proposal development; Proposal Support (helping bolster grant proposal projects through hands-on review and revision services, ensuring that the most competitive proposals are submitted; and Proposal Development (providing primary writing and project management capabilities, ushering institutional teams from iterative drafts to polished, on-time submissions).

If you are interested in the Hanover offerings, please contact the Executive Director of Research for additional information and to enter your project into the queue. Also, an overview of the Hanover offerings can be found via the link below.

Researchers and Program Managers, Update Your CITI Compliance Training Requirements

On behalf of Office of Research and Sponsored Programs

Please ensure that your CITI Program Compliance training is current as required by the University and state and federal funding agencies.

Compliance is a critical part of the operation of any university, and non-compliance can negatively affect not only a single researcher but all university researchers. CSU Pueblo provides all faculty, staff, and students with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) for its research compliance training requirements.

New to the CITI Program? CITI is utilized by the Top-25 Best National Universities, 95% of Carnegie R1 Research Universities, more than 12 million users, with more than 22 million total course completions.

With the recent influx of federal funding across the university, institutional compliance and proof of individual research compliance training and updates have become an even more essential requirement. In addition, individual non-compliance can also lead to research misconduct, so don’t delay!

To access the Office of Research and Sponsored Program’s Compliance Training Requirements and CITI Sign up/in instructions, follow the link below.
