After nearly ten months of temporary service to the city of Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Department, we are saying farewell to Recreation Supervisor Brendan Shiemke.

Brendan has been leading the Adaptive Recreation division of the department, but now turns the page to the newest chapter of his career where he will serve the residents of Northville as their Recreation Specialist beginning this month!

We are grateful for his effort, energy and willingness to learn during our department’s time of need, while helping to ensure that our Adaptive Recreation participants were able to continue enjoying all the benefits that Parks and Recreation has to offer.

Thank you, congratulations and best wishes to Brendan!

This July, join Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation for Park and Recreation Month as we celebrate how our community is stronger, more vibrant and more resilient because of parks and recreation!

We are celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), by inviting our community to share their experiences, memories and stories about what parks and recreation means to them. With everything from #DodgeParkThursdays to special 50+ programs to just a fun day at one of our many parks, there are plenty of ways that you can celebrate with us this month!
