Thank you from a 3rd Grader
Dear Friends of Assistance League of St. Louis,

During this season of giving, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to all our members, donors and sponsors for their dedication and contributions to our Assistance League of St. Louis Community Programs.

Each person's contribution creates opportunities and lays the groundwork for a path to success for the women, children and families we serve. We are honored to be your partner and look forward to working together to make a positive impact in our community in the new year.

Wishing you and your family a joyful holiday season.

Assistance League of St. Louis Chosen for 3rd Year to Receive Donations from Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run
Assistance League of St. Louis was honored to be the Charity of Choice for the 3rd year at the 22nd Annual Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run!

A cold, windy morning did not deter our dedicated volunteers, including our Books From Friends characters, from joining the 5K/10K Walk/Run. The event, presented by the Chesterfield Regional Chamber, draws hundreds of community members who join in the fun. Donations are uplifting the lives of children and families in our community through our Five Community Programs!

Imagine! Rhinestone Cowboy Gala to
Blazing Success
Imagine! Co-Chair Lynne Turley, MC and Auctioneer Rene Knott, Co-Chair Sue Graham
Hundreds of glittering rhinestones shone the light on the extraordinary success of this year's Imagine! Rhinestone Cowboy Gala fundraiser. Our dedicated Assistance League members created an evening of sophisticated cowboy-inspired decorations, extraordinary cuisine and unparalleled auction items. Guests enjoyed auctioneer Rene Knott's polished and successful skills in auctioning spectacular vacation homes, coveted seats to Cardinals, Blues and St. Louis City sports events, as well as several very unique experiences. How does a flight in a WW II military training Bi-Plane sound?

President Denise McKibbon reminded guests of the extraordinary need of the families, women and children in our community, and how, with community support, our five programs profoundly impact lives. Assistance League provides thousands of school uniforms and shoes, supplies women's shelters with necessities, meets one-time emergency family needs, and promotes education through scholarships and books.

Thank you to all volunteers, members and guests who contributed to making this year's event one of our most successful to date!
Operation School Bell Volunteers
Get High Marks for New Strategy to Fulfill Student Uniform Needs
Our visionary and dedicated Operation School Bell team has designed and implemented a new model for delivery of school uniforms in light of students not visiting our headquarters for fittings. Teams of volunteer "fitters" visit each school to measure and fit the students for uniforms.

Members pack the uniforms at our headquarters, then deliver to the schools. In addition, Assistance League maintains closets at various schools stocked with uniforms and other necessary clothing items for students on an as-needed basis.

To date, our members have fitted over 2,000 students in 46 schools. In addition to uniforms, students receive a fleece jacket, underwear, toothbrush, socks, hat, gloves and a book.

Steps to Success Volunteers Off and Running Delivering New Shoes to Students
Steps to Success volunteers are as busy as Santa's elves fitting and delivering new athletic shoes to students. Our volunteer teams travel to the schools with a selection of new athletic shoes for the children to choose from. A short time later, the shoes are delivered to the school. This fall, volunteers fitted students in 43 schools and provided over 4,100 pairs of shoes. Happy running, jumping and playing!
Assistance League and Barnes & Noble West County Work Together to Make an Impact
Assistance League of St. Louis and Barnes & Noble West County are continuing our long-standing partnership to foster reading and education in our community.

You can help us by purchasing and donating a book at Barnes & Noble West County, anytime through December 31. When purchasing a book, inform the Barnes & Noble employee that you want to donate a book to Assistance League.

Donated books are given to our Books from Friends program for their book festivals at local schools and agencies. Thank you in advance for supporting this major fundraiser to provide new books to our area students!
