June 2024

behind the SCENES

Time for a little relaxation

Everyone deserves a break but it takes some planning

June is in full swing, and we never outgrow our childhood excitement of summer break. We are beckoned to take a well-deserved break from our hectic schedules with the enticement of sunshine and relaxation.

This year I took advantage of all my daughters being available during a small early June window and returned to the S.C. beaches for the first time since COVID. Unfortunately, this was scheduled long before a Downtown Youngstown explosion required the Simply Slavic Festival relocation less than three weeks out. This resulted in much beach time spent at a desk. Despite this, tans were had and good memories were made.

I bet many of you have experienced similar crisis management during a family vacation. But that does not mean that it’s not essential to try to carve out time off, whether you’re planning to travel out of town or simply enjoy a staycation.

Entrepreneurs like us operate relentlessly, managing the demands of running a business. Add to the responsibilities of volunteer leadership roles and family responsibilities, and it can be overwhelming. Stepping away from routine boosts creativity, leading to innovative solutions and fresh approaches to challenges. By setting a positive example, you promote a culture that values balance and reduces stress. Time away also helps rediscover your passion for work, translating into better leadership.

At MARQUEE, the power of balance and time for rejuvenation are core values for our team. This summer, we are scheduling breaks and adventures that the Team will share with you on our social platforms in hopes that it will inspire you to do the same and share your stories!

I promise, that whether you venture far or stay close to home, the benefits of a break will ripple through your personal and professional life, enhancing your creativity, productivity, and overall well-being.

Here’s to a summer filled with relaxation, inspiration, and revitalization!

Practical Tips for Scheduling Time Away:

1) Plan Ahead: Schedule your vacation well in advance and require your staff to do the same. This allows everyone to prepare and inform clients of your absence and ensures ample time to complete critical tasks before you leave.

2) Delegate Responsibilities: Identify key individuals who can handle your duties and provide them with clear instructions and the necessary resources to manage operations in your absence.

3) Set Boundaries: Establish clear communication about availability during the day and designated times for calls. This helps you disconnect and fully enjoy your time off.

4) Automate and Schedule: Use automation tools to handle routine tasks. Schedule marketing activities in advance so your business continues to engage with your audience while you’re away.

5) Prepare a Contingency Plan: Outline a contingency plan for any unexpected issues. Ensure your team knows how to handle emergencies and whom to contact if they need assistance.

6) Stay Organized: Ensure all projects are current and your team is well-prepared to manage in your absence.

Adding interactive fun to Simply Slavic Festival

We had the chance to turn our passion into our profession when Simply Slavic approached us for festival self-engagement activities. Interactive selfie stations offer unmatched entertainment, engage guests, and enhance brand awareness. With fun props and backdrops, attendees express creativity and capture memorable snapshots. Instant, shareable selfies add excitement and modern- yet-Old-World appeal, while branded items promote the festival to a broader audience. These tools elevate guest experiences and create lasting memories, making them essential for any successful festival.

Outdoor marketing techniques

As I plan our family’s vacation this year, I ponder the myriad destinations that travelers are exploring. What influences their choices? Is it word of mouth, past experiences, or are they researching and discovering advertised trips that are impactful, unique, and enticing to the inquisitive traveler?

What excites us graphically, and how do advertisers draw us in? Notable examples of some cool advertising include out-of-the-box signs, 3D advertisements, transit advertising, sticker marketing, street furniture advertising, and interactive outdoor marketing! Read more here.

I am excited to share that next month our family is traveling to my homeland Poland, Europe - most of them for the very first time! While putting the trip together I came across this new campaign. Hospitality, diversity, and openness to tourists are the key distinguishing features of Małopolska and Kraków. These traits are emphasized in the latest campaign to promote the region and its capital internationally. The campaign, a joint venture of the Małopolska Tourist Organisation, the Małopolskie Voivodeship, and the City of Kraków, was launched on May 1.

The promotional campaign is being carried out as part of the ‘Małopolska – Your Destination’ project. One of its key elements is the gesture of open hands, which highlights the main slogan of the campaign: ‘Wide open…’/ ‘Unglaubliche vielfalt…’. Hospitality and openness are qualities that distinguish Poland and Poles. They are also deeply appreciated by all visitors to the region and its capital, so that is what the campaign organizers decided to focus on in the clips and banners.

The campaign was launched on 1 May. Initially, it will target the British and German markets –those tourists who have tended to top the charts in Małopolska in recent years. The organizers envisage extending the campaign to the Austrian, Swiss, Italian, Nordic and American markets. Read more here..
