RON HEDRICK Facebook

ELUSIVELY CAPTURING GLORIOUS NATURE

Ron Hedrick calls himself a ‘colorist’ and has achieved his eloquence in oils over the many years since he launched his career in Kamloops years ago. An ambitious Luminary of Canadian Impression, Ron was initially inspired by Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven as well as French Impressionists Monet and Sisley.

His impressionist flair catches light in a way that masters it and his accurate and intermittent brush strokes combine complimentary colours with alternating sharp and subtle edges. The interplay of light and shadow compel the viewer to draw closer and experience his wonderful work.

KARI DUKE Facebook

BACK ALLEY BEAUTY

The art of Kari Duke illustrates one very important lesson: inspiration and beauty really can be found in our own backyards – or at least in our back alley ways. Kari's work presents viewers with surprising subject matter, evoking a sense of stillness and silence in contemplation of the simplicity and unexpected loveliness of back alleys. Her work maintains a certain air of sentimentality reminiscent of a simpler, bygone era.

KLAAS HART website

SIMPLY MAGIC

The Power of Expression - Klaas believes that, like most things in life, if you look hard enough you see another layer. That is where he finds himself today, exploring a new layer. "I believe what you say has to be supported by how well you can paint it and not the other way around." This new age master’s old-style work speaks for itself. Simply magic.

NORMAND HUDON

THE COLOURS OF LIFE

It is difficult to imagine Normand Hudon as either old or out of the spotlight. Many will always remember him as a caricaturist, devilishly gifted in shaking the pedestals beneath public figures. More than a humorist, and much more than an artist whose brushstrokes bite, Normand was a poster artist, illustrator, ad man, actor, radio and television host, author… the list goes on, but no matter what else Hudon was doing, he was always painting.

Thank you for sharing our love of all things art. October snuck up on this pretty darn fast this year. But 'they' keep reminding me that comes with the years. We selected from all over the archive for the stories in this issue and hope you enjoy the selection. Feedback and ideas for our Gallery Exchange and Artist Corner are welcome. As Publisher, Brian has briefly highlighted our approach to marketing and the unique value we offer. We're a bit delayed on our survey activities due to some other budget priorities, but we're still looking forward to getting your views. As always, we welcome your feedback. Email us.
