Hello,
This week brings 15 notable new books including
River Sing Me Home by debut novelist
Eleanor Shearer. Set in 1834, in the immediate aftermath of the Emancipation Act (which nominally marked the end of slavery in the British colonies, but condemned many to a further six years of "apprenticeship") it tells an extraordinarily compelling story of a mother who escapes her plantation to travel across the islands to find her five children who were sold away from her, one by one, years before.
Also,
The Exiles,
Jane Harper’s third and final Aaron Falk mystery (following
The Dry and
Force of Nature) finds Detective Falk in the South Australian wine country investigating the disappearance of a woman the previous year. Will he solve the murder and bring some peace to her family, and perhaps find some himself? You’ll have to read to find out!
Lastly,
Rosie Walsh has a new novel out,
Love of My Life (her first in five years since her bestselling
Ghosted, which was a Good Morning America Book Club Pick. I meant to include it a couple of weeks ago when it first published but forgot to do so, so, I'm slipping it in here as we've just opened up a discussion of this love story wrapped in a mystery. If you've read it, do join us! If not, I suggest avoiding the discussion which will be full of spoilers, and instead click the "Read More" link to browse a range of reviews and the jacket copy.
You'll find 10 of this week's books below, and full information on all 15 in our
New This Week section.
Enjoy!
