Dear People of Saint Paul's,
This Sunday will be the second Sunday in Lent and we will continue our pilgrimage toward Easter. We have begun the Lenten season bursting with activity. Last weekend featured the start of a new Sunday Forum series, our quarterly veterans' ice cream social, a guided labyrinth walk, and Evensong. Things never slow down very much around here and we have another active weekend planned.
Our Sunday Forum series, Characters of Holy Week, will continue at 9:30 this Sunday, getting to know Simon Peter and Judas Iscariot. On Sunday at 12:30, we'll hold a Saint Paul's 101 gathering for folks who are new(ish). And on Saturday, Kevin Sharpe will lead a workshop from 9:00 to 1:00 called Journey into the Holy. We will also, of course, continue our usual round of Sunday worship, and many of us are independently reading the 1 Book 1 Diocese selection for this Lent, Rowan Williams's Passions of the Soul.
If we aren't careful, this can feel like a lot of hustle and bustle. So let us be careful to receive this activity as gentle invitations to move together more deeply into the love and grace of God. I certainly think that all these opportunities are good and proper, and I hope that you'll come to many of them. But do not come out of obligation. Rather, come in love and hope, seeking the sustenance and transformation that comes from gathering together in the name of our Lord. Find those activities and gatherings that deepen and enrich your Lenten disciplines, and join us.

Into the Holy, Into the Healing
Saturday, March 15, 9 AM - 1 PM, the Chapel
Facilitator: Kevin Sharpe
God has journeyed to be with us, but have you journeyed into the presence of the Holy? The Church teaches how essential this journey is. Yet, for many, the question lingers: How do I make this journey? This powerful workshop delves into the journey that leads to a vulnerable and ever-fresh relationship with Christ. You’ll learn to enliven your spirituality; break the cycle that denies life; and embrace deep relationship with God, yourself, and others.
Spiritual director, educator, and local Episcopalian, Kevin Sharpe supports others as they heal back into God. Through his writings, in-person group workshops and retreats as well as one-on-one embodied spiritual direction, he provides a fresh voice and perspective from the margins. His focus on teaching contemplative practices and development of discernment skills gives those wounded by religion the tools they need to journey through forgiveness and into healing.
For more information contact Fr. Eric.

Characters of Holy Week
Sundays 9:30 AM, The Berlin Room
To prepare us for Holy Week, each week we will dwell with a key character or group from Holy Week. For each, we will look at the scriptural witness, extra-biblical historical sources, Christian memory, and cultural legacy (in art, books, music). This exploration will help us see ourselves in the characters in Holy Week and draw us more deeply into those great events by which God has saved us.

1Book1Diocese Lenten Reflection
& Optional Online Book Study
Beginning March 3, 6:00 PM
Each year, the Diocese of Georgia chooses a book for Lenten reading. This year’s 1Book1Diocese selection is Rowan Williams’ new book Passions of the Soul. From the cover “In Passions of the Soul, Rowan Williams opens up the great classics of Eastern Christian writing to show how it can help us to understand and cope with the ups and downs of modern life.” Books are available in the Narthex on Sunday and the parish office during the week. Donation $15. We will not offer a class at Saint Paul’s, however, the diocese has provided a study guide to use as your Lenten reflection.
In addition, beginning on Monday, March 3, Canon Varner will host a weekly online reflection group focusing on our 1Book1Diocese offering for Lent. This group will take some time to check in with one another at each gathering and then use the study guide linked below to guide our discussions on each section of the book. This study is open to all; no special expertise is required!
