The Missions Team is excited to begin work with Read and Feed February 2nd from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Read and Feed is an after-school literacy program that provides meals, tutoring and books to children from low-income families in Wake County. We have several volunteers in place for this outreach program, but have room for more! If you would like to learn more about this program, please contact Liz Newlin (daisy8091@gmail.com)

February 25 is our Acts 1:8 Day of Service and there are opportunities for all ages! Most events are from 9:00am-1:00pm unless otherwise noted on the sign up in the Gathering Area. Here are some of the events planned and more are coming!
HOPE Ministry- Assist with set up, clean up and serving our HOPE guests.
With Love From Jesus- Volunteers assist with organizing and distributing clothing, household goods, and food to those in need. This is our YOUTH service activity, but everyone can participate!
Sewing for a Cause- Volunteers will be transforming t-shirts into tote bags. Please bring a sewing machine or serger if you have one, but there will be other tasks that do not require sewing, too.
| |
Cleaning out your closets and realize you have too many t-shirts? During our Day of Service on February 25, the Missions Sewing group will be recycling and transforming gently used t-shirts into cloth bags to be given to HOPE and others. Please drop off t-shirts in the HOPE box by the elevator. Thank you!

Join us for our Acts 1:8 Celebration Lunch on Sunday, February 26 in the Christian Life Center! Following our combined worship service at 11:00am with Dr. Peter Morris from Urban Ministries, everyone is invited to enjoy lunch and learn more about our newest outreach program, Read and Feed.

The church has a lot of yarn and materials for quilting. Prayer shawls, lap blankets, baby blankets, and toboggans have been crocheted, knitted, and sewn for church members and others in need.
The bins of yarn and fabric, with instructions, will be in the gathering area until the end of February. Please help with this mission and take what you need to make these items for others. It will warm you in many ways as you work. You can contact Harriet Wright, 919-522-9211 if needed.

HELP FOR HOPE
MEAL PROVIDERS:
We have many churches, groups, and dedicated individuals who provide a generous meal to our HOPE guests each Saturday, including main dishes, various side dishes, desserts, and drinks for a hearty meal, plus contributions of bottled water and snack items to take when they leave. With such variety, there are a variety of ways to help!
Could you help once every three months to provide parts of the meal? We have a few openings:
2 Dessert providers (to serve 25 - 30)
1 Drink provider (about 10-2 liter bottles)
1 Bottled Water provider (2 cases)
1 Snack provider (packaged items (like granola bars) for 30)
Each provider is assigned a spot on a rotating schedule so you have 1 turn each quarter (for example, the first Saturday of March, June, September, December). Most of these can be dropped off early as needed; email reminders go out the week before your turn.
WASH TOWELS:
HOPE guests enjoy a hot shower and when available, clean clothes. We need volunteers to wash a few loads of towels and/or clothes once each month. On your scheduled turn, you would pick up the items after HOPE, wash and later return to the church as convenient for you!
To volunteer or if you have questions, email HOPEmeals@yahoo.com or contact Lee Ellen Coffey. Thanks for caring!
