Looking for a book to take on a trip or to read at the beach? Stop by the Friends ongoing book sale at the library for first dibs on the same great titles you see at the book sale every year! Adult and kids hardcover, softcover, fiction, and nonfiction are all available. Payment can be put into the black honor box.

Summer Reading is upon us! This year's theme is "Read Beyond the Beaten Path". Join us at the library for lots of fun virtual and in person programming between June 20th and August 13th.
We will once again be using Beanstack this summer. Create an account or use your login from last year!

Kids 0-12: Read and Bead! Earn beads for every 15 minutes read, the more you read, the cooler the beads get! Pick out your brag tag and folder with this Google Form. Pickup for folders will start on June 13th. Use this Google Form to trade the minutes you've read for beads for reading starting June 20th
Kids 10-12 (rising 4-6th graders): choose to do Read and Bead or read 1 book for 1 virtual raffle ticket towards one of three grand prizes on Beanstack. Choose beads or raffles, you cannot do both.
Teens grades 7-12: Earn a virtual raffle ticket for every book you log on Beanstack to win one of three prizes on Beanstack.

Friday, July 15th, 12-12pm, Registration is required.
Norfolk Public Library presents an in-person public, multi-generational, hands-on event with Jay Mankita. Kids and families design, build, test, and play with Rube Goldberg “Machines,” complicated chain reactions accomplishing simple tasks.
Participants learn through demonstration, and through selfdirected play, to make kinetic parts, exploring force and motion, scale, and cause and effect. Jay brings his 'Traveling Maker Space, including Tinker Toys, K'Nex, Hot Wheels tracks, ping pong balls, wooden blocks, toy cars, and action figures, plus rubber bands, string, tape, paper clips, and literally thousands of dominoes.
Lots of trial & error-focused activities with multiple opportunities for participants to learn from their mistakes, and to share their delight, as well as their frustration. We will hear groans and cheers, as the machines run their course!
All ages Kindergarten through Adults welcome!
Parents should be aware there are many small bits used at this program and might not be best for babies or toddlers.

A Cultural and Historical Reflection of the 1960s Through the Music of The Beatles |
Saturday, July 16th, 12-1pm in the Community Room. No registration is required.
A multi-media presentation highlighting the influence The Beatles had on world culture, particularly during the 1960s. It features live acoustic music and audience sing-alongs, coupled with rare audio and video clips.
This hour-long event is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. The Beatles have fans in every generation, and their songs are beloved by all.
The presenter is Fran Hart, founding member of the Beatles tribute band 4EverFab.

Stories and Songs for Everyone with Davis Bates |
Tuesday, July 26th, 2:00 - 2:45pm, Town Hill. Open to all ages, no registration required.
Davis' traditional and participatory style of telling empowers and encourages audiences of all ages to join in the fun, and to take the stories home with them to share with others.
Davis Bates' performances are a mixture of family, Native American, international and regional songs and stories. They speak of empowerment, history, spirit and the environment.

Introduction to Belly Dance |
Thursday, July 28th, 7-8:30pm, registration is required.
Learn fundamental belly dance moves – shimmies, circles, and figure 8s – and how to bring them together in endless combinations so to express your creativity through dance.
NO dance experience necessary. Low-impact. Wear comfortable clothing. Be prepared to dance barefoot unless you have smooth-soled, flat shoes. Susan McCarthy (Anechka) has practiced, performed, and taught belly dance since 2000.

Learn how to sculpt with wool using a barbed needle and merino wool roving. You'll learn the basics of this fun and relaxing craft and leave with the basic supplies and skills to create more on your own. It's easier than it looks to make a smiling snail with a spiral shell!
