Volunteer Spotlight -

Nicholas Mirabillo-Mulhall

Nicholas Mirabillo-Mulhall has been an Altar Server at St. Anthony’s for nine years and has also spent time Altar Serving at other churches in the area, too. Nicholas is a Senior Server at St. Anthony's and has helped celebrate every type of Mass including the Holy Triduum, Midnight Mass, and weddings.

He also helped train many new altar servers in our Parish over the years.

In 2016, Nicholas, and his brother Anthony, were awarded a

Certificate of Appreciation by Archbishop Leonard P. Blair for their years of service on the occasion of the Jubilee of Altar Servers.

Nicholas's final Mass as an Altar Server was last month, and he is now attending the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Thank you, Nicholas, for all of your hard work throughout the years,

we wish you well in your future endeavors!

Recent Renovations

The windows and some other outdoor areas are being scrapped and repainted. The wood takes a toll from the weather and this process needs to be repeated every several years.

40 Days for Life

Our Pro-Life Ministry is participating in 40 Days for Life, which is a campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer, fasting, and community outreach. The campaign this year begins on September 28th, and ends on November 6th.

The campaign will begin with an Opening Day Mass at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Hartford on September 28th, followed by a Rosary Prayer in front of a Planned Parenthood. St. Anthony Church Pro-Life Ministry members will also be holding a prayerful vigil on October 22nd in West Hartford.

Visit our website to learn more!

Special Mass - Next Weekend!

We will celebrate a special Mass on the Feast of Thérèse of Lisieux on

Saturday, October 1st at 4:30 pm. There will be a special blessing of the

Statue of St. Therese that is in the sanctuary of our church.

Parishioners are invited to bring a red rose to be placed beneath the

statue of this widely venerated Saint.

Baby Bottle Boomerang

The Baby Bottle Boomerang is returning to St. Anthony’s! This event has not been held in the past couple of years (due to Covid). It is a fundraiser for Carolyn’s Place, a pregnancy care center in Waterbury that assists pregnant women in need of assistance with free services and baby items. The plastic baby bottles will be available next weekend on October 1 and 2. Please take one on your way out of church and fill it with spare change or you may write a check if you wish. The bottles should be returned on November 5 or 6. Carolyn’s Place sincerely appreciates your generosity!

Donations Needed!

We are still seeking donations of Josh Wine for our 60th Anniversary Celebration Event! The last day to donate is Saturday, October 8th. Please consider donating a bottle for our Parish family enjoy to enjoy at this monumental event, and thank you to those that have already made donations!

Faith Formation is Accessible!

God made us to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him, and to be happy with Him in heaven.

We are all children of God made in God’s image. Everyone has a unique capacity to know and to love God.

The sacraments are for all of God’s children.

If you have a child with special needs, St. Anthony Faith Formation

will make every effort to help your child receive instruction

and to receive the sacraments.

Please reach out to Andrea to let us know about your amazing child!

Prepare yourself for this weekend's Mass:

The Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

This Weekend's Readings

Gospel Reflection:

Jesus was undoubtedly a gifted storyteller and the parable of Lazarus that we hear proclaimed this coming Sunday is certainly among one of the most powerful that we hear in the gospels. Falling as it does within a section of Luke’s Gospel that contains several teachings on wealth and material goods, it is easy to reduce the story of Lazarus and the Rich Man (traditionally named “Dives”) into a sort of mortality tale about the dangers of greed and selfishness. However, the liturgy for this Sunday invites us to take a broader view, particularly when we consider the story alongside the second reading, taken form the First Letter to Timothy... click here to continue reading!

Church Property Improvements

There’s always work to be done on the property, just like your own homes but on a larger scale! Work will be done soon to lower the drains on the flat roofs, replace a large section of shingles on the church roof, and replace a small section of the flat roof over the confessional. The window panes on the stained glass windows need to be sanded and painted. These jobs will cost over $22,000.00. We appreciate your financial support!
