November 8, 2022, Special Election

Qualifying for City Council Post 3 closed on Friday, September 16, 2022. Five candidates have officially qualified for the special election. 

Tuesday, November 8, 2022, is election day with in-person early voting opening on Monday, October 17, 2022 and continuing until Friday, November 4, 2022.

Summer Burn Ban Ends Oct. 1st

Outdoor burn permits will be issued starting October 1, 2022. Permits are issued by the Fire Marshal depending on weather conditions.

Permits MUST be obtained on the day you wish to burn.  Burn permits are only valid on the day they are issued and must be presented to fire officials upon request.

Failure to follow the procedures on the burn permit could result in fines.

Fayette Senior Services ~ Delivering a Difference

Parents and grandparents rely more on their families and friends for assistance as they age. For many Fayette County seniors, these loved ones include the 100-plus volunteers from the county Meals on Wheels program.

Each year, the Fayette Senior Services team delivers over 50,000 nutritious meals to hundreds of homebound seniors across Peachtree City and the county. These friendly volunteer faces provide a warm smile to our aging residents, while also checking each day to see if they're well.

It takes $500,000 to run Meals on Wheels each year. Fayette Senior Services supplies the meals, free of charge, thanks to a partnership with Open Hand Atlanta. Still, to go the extra mile for those in need, donations and volunteers are a must.

Peachtree City Police Hold Active Shooter Training

Peachtree City's parents learned a new skill from the police that we all hope they'll never need to use.

Sergeant Brown with the Peachtree City Police Department presented a course at McIntosh High School on what parents should do if confronted with an active shooter event. 

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, or CRASE, is a class developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University. CRASE provides strategies, guidance, and a plan for surviving an active shooter event. More than 900,000 people nationwide have received CRASE training since the program's debut in 2004.

Other Georgia cities that previously hosted CRASE classes include Columbus, Gainesville, and Villa Rica. While this training was only open to parents of McIntosh High students, stay up to date on future training by signing up for notifications by clicking here.
