Crawford County is a great place to live. Its residents are welcoming and still embrace traditional American values and a common sense approach to living. For those who enjoy the outdoors, Crawford County has both open prairie and quiet woodlands to appreciate and explore. Its residents enjoy a slower pace of life – no traffic jams or long red lights on your way to work – but can still find ample social opportunities locally or within a short distance. I moved to Crawford County seven years ago and have never regretted the decision.

Having a strong and healthy community is not something that happens accidentally. It results from people working together to ensure that residents are safe and have opportunities to improve their lives through education, employment, and experience. That is why I am proud to support the United Way of Crawford County.  It is a group dedicated to improving the quality of life for all residents of our communities. The leadership team has members of local government, industry, education, and small businesses. While incredibly different in their backgrounds, all are joined together with a single purpose – to make a difference in other people's lives.

Unfortunately, some residents in our communities struggle with their basic human needs – food, clothing, shelter, and an environment free from addiction or abuse. The United Way of Crawford County is there to help when people find themselves in need. We also understand that education is one of the best ways to equip people for citizenship, employment, and independence. The United Way of Crawford County invests in our local schools and pays all tuition and fees for area Dual Credit students. This program allows area students to save money and avoid debt by allowing them to earn college credit while they are still in high school. We also understand that for local businesses to recruit and retain the workforce they need to be competitive, our communities need to be seen as more than just places to work. The United Way of Crawford County has proudly supported improvements to our local parks and areas for people to recreate and socialize with others.

It’s rare to find an organization that makes a difference in so many types of situations – health, education or financial stability. I’m proud to live in Crawford County, and I want to do my part to ensure it remains a strong and healthy community for the next generation. That is why I support the United Way of Crawford County, and I hope you will too.

Thank you to every single person who keeps our community going strong by running these impactful organizations and being involved with supporting them. Even through the hard times, you walk in with your shoulders up, a smile on, and ready to make a positive change in our community. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your world – for I am honored.
