Teri's testimony:
As a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, I've come to appreciate the profound impact that giving back—through time, money, and gifts—has on our faith community and my personal faith journey. Psalm 116 resonates with me as it captures the essence of gratitude and the joy of giving. Psalm 116:12 prompts us to ask, “What shall I return to the Lord for all his goodness to me?”
When we were young(er) and sometimes still, what we give has seemed inconsequential. However, reflecting on this particular psalm, I am reminded that giving is not about the amount but about the heart behind it. Each time we give, we are not just supporting Trinity’s mission, outreach programs, and community services; we are expressing gratitude for God’s goodness in our lives. It brings joy to know that our contributions, are part of larger kingdom work.
T.C.'s testimony:
Additionally, volunteering time has enriched my faith in unexpected ways. By serving in various ministries—whether leading Sunday school, helping with church events, or participating in community missions—I’ve formed meaningful relationships and witnessed the power of faith in action. Each hour spent serving is an opportunity to respond to God’s goodness, as reflected in Psalm 116.
Lastly, the gifts we offer—our talents, skills, and passions—are essential to the life of our church. Whether it’s music, art, or administrative skills, using these gifts for God’s glory fosters a vibrant community where everyone feels valued.
In giving back, I’ve learned that it’s not just about the resources we provide but the love and commitment we express through our actions. I encourage everyone to embrace the joy of giving; like the psalmist, let us ask ourselves how we can return to the Lord for all His goodness. Stewardship allows us the opportunity to take increased ownership of our faith and is an example of our faith in action.
