2022 #13

This past week we had the good fortune to spend time with Mackenzie Thorpe, his wife Susan and son, Owen who were visiting from England. Sadly, while they were in flight Queen Elizabeth died and they learned the news after arriving. They felt regret being away from home while so many of their countrymen gathered to mourn and honor their Queen of seven decades. It was a special time to be with them. Our thanks for sharing with us and condolences to Mackenzie, Susan and Owen.

Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th through October 15th, began as a promotion of the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans. Independence anniversaries for several Latin American countries are during this time. Hispanic Americans have been integral to the prosperity of the U.S.

Their contributions to this nation are immeasurable and they embody the best of American values.

I can say from personal experience, growing up with the Latin population in California and living in New Orleans, that the Hispanic-American community has left

an indelible mark on the U.S. culture and economy.

The theme for Hispanic Heritage Month 2022 is

“Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation”.

May we all embrace this month of celebration.

NEW WORKS

"Art is not really about the object itself, any piece of art is a vehicle to bring you an experience, to provide a thought, an emotion or new perspective. The art is in the experience, that emotive response or relationship you have to the piece."

-Mackenzie Thorpe

All the Love in the World

This sculpture embodies hallmark imagery from Mackenzie’s canon of icons we love to live with in our daily lives. The duffle coat child sits securely in an inviting interpretation of a basket of flowers, surrounded by love! Mackenzies' creativity does not stop!
