Community Input Requested

The Castro Valley Central Business District Specific Plan (CVBDSP) is being updated by Alameda County for the first time since 1996 in an effort to ensure a long-term vision for growth and prosperity in Castro Valley's downtown region. The County is seeking input from residents and the small business community prior to the Plan's completion next summer.

To learn more, provide comment, or participate in a future meeting, please visit the CVBDSP website for more information.

Mobile Citizen App

Alameda County utilizes a Mobile Citizen app that allows the public to report issues such as potholes, graffiti, and illegal dumping to the County's Public Works Agency.

The app can be downloaded by searching "mobile citizen" in the app store. Once on your phone, the app allows you to take a photo of the issue you wish to report and submit it directly to Public Works.

Most reported issues are processed immediately and resolved within 48 hours.

Community Project | Hayward Acres Family Resource Center

The Hayward Acres Family Resource Center (FRC) is a project aimed at providing resources to residents of Hayward Acres - one of Alameda County's most underserved areas. Last year, ECD helped facilitate the reallocation of $750,000 to fund upgrades at Royal Sunset High School to allow the FRC to be located on school grounds.

Expected to begin operations in 2024, the FRC is a joint venture by the San Lorenzo Unified School District (SLZUSD) and community-based nonprofit La Familia, and is expected to provide health services, food distribution, housing and employment resources, and family programs.
