Weekly Update
A Message from Principal Simpson
| | |
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and is ready for the next three weeks to fly right by! So many fun things are happening, including:
- Grade-level musicals, our second graders did a great job last night and third grade performs this evening;
- The after-school choir is hosting a concert next Wednesday, Dec. 6; and,
- Our holiday festivities are around the corner!
We sent out our mid-year parent survey earlier this week. We'd like one person from your household to complete the survey before end-of-day this Sunday, Dec. 3. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to complete the survey, as it will provide valuable feedback to our teachers, administration and Board. (The survey does require your family number which is the four-digit number that can be found on your carpool tag.) Here is the link to the survey.
Next Wednesday, Dec. 6, in partnership with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, we will hold security training in our building. This training will happen after school hours, from 4 p.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m. There will be an increased law enforcement presence on campus during the training. We wanted to let you know so you’re not concerned—it’s all part of the training.
December's virtue is Temperance: Control is the key to improvement. Keep your words, actions, and temper in control. This time of year, everyone can get stressed, and emotions run high. We will work with the students on regulating their emotions and developing empathy during their character education time this month. You also should receive resources from your teachers about strategies you can use at home.
Have a nice weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Simpson

Holiday Gifting Collections for Staff Ends Sunday |
If you’re participating in RaiseRight gifting for teachers and staff this holiday season, you have until this Sunday, Dec. 3, to place your orders!
To place your RaiseRight order and pay with credit card, visit MySchoolBucks. Staff are grouped by grade or category; click here for a current staff list.
- Select the appropriate grade or category to open the group window.
-
Use the dropdown menu to select the staff member you’re gifting, and enter your gift amount in the “Amount to Pay” box (use whole-dollar increments). You also may elect to have your student's name only, not gift amount, shared with the recipient.
- Repeat as many times as needed until all of your staff gift orders have been placed.
-
And, don’t forget to check out when you’re all done!
The PTO will distribute gift cards electronically during the week of Dec. 19, and the gift cards will be in lieu of any other class gift/collection.
Participation in the RaiseRight program is completely voluntary. You are welcome to participate with any amount, or alternatively gift the teachers and staff on your own.
Questions? Visit the PTO webpage or contact Rebecca Mullenix, RaiseRight committee manager.

Original Works Extended Deadline |
Original Works has reopened the Gallery for late orders. The products ordered after the original deadline are not guaranteed for the holidays, but oftentimes they are able to deliver them before break.
To order, our Pre-K-5 families should follow the instructions sent home earlier this fall. A portion of your purchase goes back to our arts programs, so your support is greatly appreciated. Contact Mrs. Hinkle with any questions.

Doughnuts for a Cause - December Spirit Night Event |
This month, you have a great reason to indulge in a dozen (or two) Krispy Kreme doughnuts. From December 1-15, more than 50 percent of your order price will be donated back to BFA when you purchase via our fundraising sales page! Simply buy online, visit your local store and redeem using your code. Treat yourself, or even gift them to friends and family.
We can share this link with anyone, and the offer can be redeemed at any location in the country (except in Connecticut). So, feel free to share this with friends and family all over America!
After you purchase via the fundraising sales page you will immediately get an email confirmation with a link to access the redemption code. Once you click: "Redeem (of Gift) your Dozens" in this email, you will be able to see all the Digital Dozens associated with your order. From here, you can choose to redeem or gift each dozen individually. You do not have to redeem your digital dozens at the same time. Each has a unique code so you can redeem anytime.
These Digital Dozens are for a glazed dozen only.
These are perfect for stocking stuffers, holiday parties, gifts, or enjoying at home. Our goal is 100 dozen sold which would mean $800 for the PTO! The link will go live TOMORROW, Dec. 1, so please spread the word and enjoy some doughnuts!
