Meet the Funder

It was great to see The Salvation Army Church and Community Centre full of over 100 different organisations coming together to network and find out more about the grant making organisations who were our valued guests. We were joined by speakers from The Eveson Trust, Herefordshire Community Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund. Each outlined its process for funding applications, what they look for in proposals and the evidence they require before, during and after a successful application.

'Putting a face to funding bodies was good. Finding out what happens 'behind the scenes' when funders make decisions about applications. Having a clear picture of who funds what and how to apply de-mystified the process !'

A special hvoss Thank You to

Herefordshire Community Foundation, The Eveson Trust and National Lottery Community Fund for joining us and to our partners in the event:

Hereford City Council, Salvation Army Hereford and Talk Community

Spotlight

The Salvation Army Church and Community centre is situated on Canonmoor Street, Hereford.

We are a Christian Church who hold services each Sunday at 10.30 am to which all are welcome. We have activities throughout the week for our own groups but also offer the facilities out for hire to external groups.

We have two halls available, one to accommodate approximately 60 people (with AV Facilities) and one which can accommodate approximately 120 people, again with AV facilities.  Tables and chairs are available for use, as is a small kitchen for refreshments. There is also a smaller room for small groups (approx.. 20) for meetings / discussion groups etc.

Hire costs are based upon discussion with the Administrator (Nigel Styles) but a starting point is £20 per hour depending upon facilities required.

Herefordshire Community Network for Ukraine

The Herefordshire Community Network for Ukraine is formed of the statutory, voluntary and community groups and organisations that are working to support the Ukrainians fleeing the conflict and arriving and staying in the county.

The Network's unique partnership approach, which includes Herefordshire Council and over 70 organisations and groups in the VCSE sector working collaboratively, ensures that people from Ukraine receive the support they need. This may include through learning English, with housing, transition from a hosting/sponsorship arrangement or activities developed with them to improve mental health, well being and integration into the community in Herefordshire.

Link workers based in a number of organisations support people in a person-centred and strengths-based way, and surveys undertaken by organisations tell us that over 96% of people feel better and more integrated than when they arrived.

The Network welcomes new members and organisations supporting people from Ukraine or interested in learning more about what is done, and what is still needed.

The Network has recently released its first newsletter.

Megan's fundraiser for Project Trust

I’m Megan, I am 17 years old and in my second year of college.

I am thrilled to say that I have been selected to volunteer for 12 months in Ghana beginning in August 2024. I am heading to Ghana to volunteer as a teacher, with a Scottish charity called Project Trust. For over 50 years, they have given young people the amazing opportunity to volunteer, help those who are less fortunate than ourselves and to embrace new cultures.

To make this incredible journey possible, I need to raise £7,450, which will fund my year in Ghana.

Any support or donation to help me reach my goal will be hugely appreciated!

Thank you! Megan :) x
