Worship with Us this Sunday

August 21, 2022 | 10:00am In-person and Facebook Live

Our Hebrew scripture reading is Jeremiah 1:4-10 ….when God gives us words to share because we can be prophetic. Our Gospel Lesson is Luke 13:10-17… when Jesus meets a woman who have been stooped over for eighteen years. Jesus helps set her free – and some raise concerns about the details. Jesus is clear in his reason and in his call to all.

We will celebrate the Baptism of Brayden Michael Comens, son of David Comens and Megan Graham Comens.

Masks strongly recommended.

New Member Sunday August 28

Our church family is constantly changing. People come and go. Babies are born. Children grow up. People commit themselves to one another. Loved ones and friends among us come to the end of their lives. Individuals move into our community and church life. Others leave us, moving away to new places, new experiences, new opportunities. It is with joy and gratitude that we plan to welcome new members into our worship, work and witness at Parkway UCC on Sunday, August 28 during our 10am worship service.

Ponder

The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours. ~Alan Bennett

Back to School Humor

Hunter: What has given Mr. Bubbles nightmares since elementary school?

Josh: Beats me.

Hunter: Pop quizzes!

Teacher: Donald, what is the chemical formula for water?

Juan: H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O.

Teacher: What are you talking about?

Juan: Yesterday you said it was H to O.

Math teacher: A woman from Los Angeles drove toward New York at 250 miles per hour and a man from New York drove toward Los Angeles at 150 m.p.h. Where did they meet?

Ahmed: In jail!

Teacher: If you had 13 apples, 12 grapes, 3 pineapples and 3 strawberries, what would you have?

Teresa: A delicious fruit salad.

Grizzlies Baseball Game

Sunday, August 21 | Gametime is 5:45pm

Take me out to the ballgame! Cheer on our Gateway Grizzlies with a dozen or more PUCCers as they face the Windy City ThunderBolts!

The Gateway Grizzlies are a professional baseball team based in the St. Louis suburb of Sauget, Illinois, in the United States. The Grizzlies are a member of the West Division of the Frontier League, which is a partner league of Major League Baseball.

This is a much more manageable excursion than going to a Cardinals game... so if you enjoy baseball and/or want an 'easier' adventure, this is the opportunity for you.

Please reserve your ticket(s) by contacting PUCCer Blake Lyons via phone/text 314-681-0620.

Tickets are $16 each. Please make checks to PUCC with Grizzlies in memo.

We can also work out carpooling a few days ahead.
