Dear Temple Israel Community,
We are all outraged by the numerous antisemitic events that seem to occur daily in our city, all over this country and the world. Yesterday it hit too close to home when the Jewish students at Cooper Union were forced to lock down in the library out of concern for their physical safety while protestors banged on the door screaming "Globalize the intifada from New York to Gaza." This is truly incomprehensible and requires our immediate action. We must do all we can to protect ourselves and our children.
Join us in taking action... TODAY:
Please contact one or all of the following officials to urge them not to be complacent in the face of blatant Jew Hatred. There should be a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to antisemitism and those that threaten or intimidate our Jewish community. Please feel free to use the following:
I am writing to express my appreciation for the strong support you have shown Israel and the Jewish community over the last few weeks. It has been very important and meaningful.
However, we need you more now than ever as we are seeing a very frightening rise in antisemitism in NYC. Recent protests have led to Jewish students having to be locked in the library at Cooper Union and a physical attack at Columbia to highlight only two.
I am sure you agree with me that there should be a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to antisemitism and those that threaten or intimidate our Jewish community. Please do all you can to ensure the safety of the world's largest Jewish community outside of Israel!
