Wright State University's Indigenous American Cultural Student Association (IACSA) and the Asian and Native American Center (ANA) invite you to recognize Native American Heritage Month across the next five weeks. Along with the Student Veterans Association, the ANA Center and IACSA invite you to a screening of The Warrior Tradition, the nationwide Community Documentary Night choice for November 2023. This film tells the astonishing, heartbreaking, inspiring, and largely untold story of Native Americans in the United States military. Why would they put their lives on the line for the very government that took their homelands? The film relates the stories of Native American warriors from their own points of view – stories of service and pain, of courage and fear. Those interested can also register here to join the nationwide virtual discussion of the the film on Sunday, November 5 at 7pm.

To champion someone is to fight for them. The Wright State Veteran and Military Center invites faculty, staff, and other leaders to participate in this training program to accept the challenge of becoming an advocate for student veterans and military-connected students. The process of becoming a VMC Student Champion requires the completion of four connected trainings offered by the VMC itself, the Office of Public Safety, and the Mental Health Task Force. The VMC Veteran Ally Training serves as the foundational training (one of four) to become a VMC Student Champion.
Army Veteran and Psychology student Zac Collette will facilitate a two-hour training focused on understanding the foundation elements of military culture, developing an appreciation of the most common challenges facing our student veterans, and will provide suggestions and tactics to meet our student veterans and military-affiliated student where they are in their academic journey.

Black Experiences with Reproductive Care
Tamika Odum, a PhD candidate in the department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati seeks participants for a study that aims to understand Black experiences with reproductive care and ultimately to improve the relationships between healthcare providers and those they serve. Participants must be 18+ years of age; identify as Black, and live in Ohio, Kentucky, or West Virginia; and have ended or considered ending a pregnancy. The ACE WNO annual conference offers women the opportunity to reflect and focus on their talents, experiences, and goals while networking with women professionals from across the state. Attendees learn how to lean into our networks for sources of strength, perseverance, and support while navigating a changed higher education landscape. Along the way, we gain insight and develop skills in mentoring, coaching, and sponsoring each other and ourselves.
