Weekly Newsletter 09/15/2023

Dear Parents,

Thank you to everyone who has already turned in their Papa John's Fundraising Flyer. We appreciate the families who purchased 1 card as well as those who asked friends and family. So far the highest number sold by one student has been 22 cards. We will accept envelopes through Monday and issue the cards right away.

The class with the most cards sold will win a Pizza Party and all proceeds from the sale will go to buy plants and supplies for our upcoming growing season in the garden. Feel free to put money for the cards in the envelope or we can bill your Brightwheel accounts. Seems these days people are paying parents directly through electronic payments so we can easily bill your accounts. I am so grateful to everyone who participates.

We are seeing some really disturbing trends that are a direct result of screen time. This means the time children spend viewing cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, and television. Within the last year, we are seeing the effects more and more at Kids For Kids Academy. I have done extensive research that I will be sharing with families. I know families are busy so rather than have a face-to-face meeting, I will be doing presentations through ZOOM on ways to help your child.

The first set of meetings is MANDATORY for families of children in VPK, Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade since this is where are seeing the greatest negative impact in school. That ZOOM meeting will take place on Tuesday, parents will get the link through Brightwheel and can choose to attend at 6:00 or 7:00.

The meeting will be recorded and the recording will be available to all other families to view from home. I am begging all families to take the time to view the presentation so you can learn the current dangers and safeguards parents can take to keep their children safe.

Please note that Monday, September 25th, we will be open, but it will be a non-instructional day for kids in VPK, and our K-2 program as it is a teacher planning day. Attendance on that day is OPTIONAL for students in those classes. If your child plans to be out, please let the teacher know so that we can have a lunch count.

Finally, the ice cream truck that came last week may appear every other week. The 5% donation to the school ended up being $25 which we have asked to be donated to the Live Like Bella Foundation for childhood cancer. All food truck donations will go there. On Wednesday, there will be a Pizza Truck. They will be selling Cheese Pizzas for $12 and an additional small charge for pepperoni. If you wish to preorder, we will have a list up on Wednesday to have pizza ready for pick up when you get your child. Again the 5% give back will go to the Live Like Bella Cancer Foundation.

If you are celebrating the upcoming holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, we wish you and your family a Healthy & Happy New Year!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
