Dr. Lee Butler, President of Iliff, to Present this Sunday

MAY 5: We are fortunate to have Dr. Lee Butler, the new President of the Iliff School of Theology, as the speaker, as part of our Wills Long lectureship series. He will speak on: John 15:9-17 "A Friendly Amendment". What is the meaning of sacrificial love within a society that sacrifices and consumes bodies? We will discuss the meaning of laying down one's life for friends.

MAY 12: Larry Volmert will facilitate a discussion regarding the growing coalition between the extreme MAGA Republicans and the extreme right “Christian” Nationalists, and the danger that poses to American democracy and to religious liberty and faithful Christian principles and practice. Come with your thoughts and insights to share in this discussion.

The Auction is a time to connect, break bread, and of course, FUNdraise. In addition to hosting events such as dinners, hikes, game and movie nights, there is another way you can participate. St. Barnabas is full of members who have amazing gifts and talents–clothing designers, painters, knitters, bakers, linguists, poets, photographers, singers, composers, IT specialists–and more. Please consider offering your skill or gift as an Auction item. Everyone is welcome! Invite your neighbors, friends, family, and kids. Saturday's Earth Day Clean Up Was A BIG Success!

Lena Potyondy's comment says it all. "[With all the rain] I wasn't sure there'd be enough to do inside. I should have known better. There's ALWAYS something that needs to be done." But it wasn't just an inside job :-). Janet Manning and Tony braved the blizzard and did some pruning and clean up. THANK YOU to ALL who helped and to Walter Flor, who took most of the photos (hence the reason he's not in any of them :-( ).

The Gathering Place

Founded in 1986, The Gathering Place (TGP) is the only daytime drop-in center in the Denver metro area that serves women, transgender and non-binary individuals and their children. Located at 1535 High Street in Capitol Hill, those who come to TGP receive services that meet basic needs, foster personal growth, build community, and develop social enterprise.

Mission: As diverse faith communities, we work to reduce injuries, deaths, and the resulting grief caused by the improper use of firearms — whether suicidal, accidental, or criminal. We work together in areas where we can be most effective, including legislative advocacy, public health initiatives, public awareness, and increased engagement of our faith communities. Music Galore

Several choir and church members are involved with other singing groups. Here are three upcoming events.

Misty Dupuis is the director of the Arapahoe Community College and Community Choir. Their concert will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00pm in the Waring Theater on the Littleton campus (5900 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, 80120). The concert is free to attend.

Michael Jordan sings with Spiritual Project Choir. Their next concert is Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 pm in the Gates Concert Hall, Newman Center for the Performing Arts. 2343 E Iliff Avenue. Free general admission. $5 reserved parterre seating.

Tom Potter and Ellen Janasko are members of the Colorado Symphony Chorus. It's 40th anniversary concert will be held on Sat. May 18 at 7:30 pm and Sun. May 19 at 1:00 pm. For discounted tickets of 40% off, please use code: CELEBRATE40.
