CDC Updates Respiratory Virus Recommendations
The recommendations suggest returning to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present, it has been gone without use of a fever-reducing medication.
Once people resume normal activities, they are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as taking more steps for cleaner air, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses. Enhanced precautions are especially important to protect those most at risk for severe illness, including those over 65 and people with weakened immune systems. CDC’s updated guidance reflects how the circumstances around COVID-19 in particular have changed. While it remains a threat, today it is far less likely to cause severe illness because of widespread immunity and improved tools to prevent and treat the disease. Importantly, states and countries that have already adjusted recommended isolation times have not seen increased hospitalizations or deaths related to COVID-19.

Civil Service Rules Change
Resolution 2020-151 amended Civil Service Rules 5.407 and 5.411. Rule 5.407 governs annual leave accumulation limits, and Rule 5.411 governs the payment of accrued unused annual leave at the time an employee exits the County. Please be advised that the accumulation limits have increased from 256 hours to 356 for general employees, and 576 for fire shift personnel. This change is beneficial to employees, and basically increases the amount of annual leave payout.
The change in the accumulation limits does not impact your accrual rate. All covered employees earn annual and sick leave at the rate of 4 hours per pay period. The effective date of Resolution 2020-151 is August 4, 2020.

Department Heads and staff should review the brand video and requirements for the new brand logo, tagline and marketing slogan, which was approved for all BOC departments effective July 7, 2020. The official logo, lettering and colors should not be changed and should never appear distorted when printed, embroidered, posted, or electronically shared.
It is important to make all vendors and partners aware of the official brand guide and official color pallette with the correct numbers when creating flyers, promotional, uniforms, swag, etc. for your department using the full color, black, or white version of the logo. White background of solid colors that are not in the logo are recommended that convey all details clearly of the logo (no fade, no lines, no circles, no gradients etc. that would change the logo.) Otherwise, use the black logo or white logo or gray scale only to achieve the full effect of the logo without distorting it.

Master Sergeant Retired Wayne Collins
Wayne Collins enlisted in the United States Army in Atlanta, Georgia in October of 1976 and was assigned to the United States Army Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. There he completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training as a Wire Systems Installer/Switch Board Operator Maintainer.
During his military service, Wayne served with the 24th Signal Battalion, 24th Infantry in Fort Stewart Georgia, 261st Signal Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division Wurzburg Germany,2nd Combat Battalion Basic Training Fort McClellan Alabama as a Drill Sergeant, 228th Signal Battalion, 5th Signal Command Frankfurt Germany, 1st Signal Brigade JCCC Soul South Korea, Regimental Basic Noncommissioned Officers Academy United States Army Signal School First Sergeant, 335th Theater Signal Command East Point Georgia, and Camp Doha Kuwait City Kuwait.
Wayne Collins received awards and decorations that include the Meritorious Service Medal (5th Oak Leaf), Army Accommodation Medal (4th Oak Leaf), Achievement Award (4th Oak Leaf), Desert Storm/ Desert Sheild Campaign Ribbon, Airborne/Air Assault Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Drivers Badge, American Red Cross Life Saving accommodations, Bronze Order of Mercury Regimental Signal Association, and the German Marksmanship Badge (Bronze).
After 22 years of service, Master Sergeant Collins retired while stationed at Fort McPherson Georgia.
Mr. Collins has lived in the City of Morrow for 13 years. He serves as the Chairman of Morrows’ Planning and Zoning Board and is the current Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5080 in Morrow Georgia. He is active with Neighborhood Watch, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and the Geezer Squad. Wayne is married to Katherine, his loving wife of 45 years; from this union are two children, Marcus and Tanisha, and two grandchildren Wayne Carter and Ryleigh.

IMPROVING YOUR ENTHUSIASM
Microsoft chairman Bill Gates remarked, “What I do best is share my enthusiasm.” Obviously that ability has brought the people in his organization immense success. If asked, would your teammates say that you have a similar effect on them? Enthusiasm increases a person’s accomplishments while apathy increases his alibis. Which are people more likely to discover in you?
To improve your enthusiasm …
Show a sense of urgency. A good way to fire up your own furnace is to do things with greater urgency. Identify a project that you are currently less enthusiastic about than you should be. Give yourself deadlines for completing its steps that are a little more ambitious than you feel comfortable with. Doing that should help you be more focused and energized.
Be willing to do more. One way to demonstrate enthusiasm with your teammates is to go the extra mile with others. This week when someone asks you to do something, do what’s required and then some. Then quietly observe its impact on the team’s atmosphere.
Strive for excellence. Elbert Hubbard said, “The best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today.” Nothing breeds enthusiasm like a job well done. If you’ve allowed yourself to ease off when it comes to your work standards, redouble efforts to do things according to your highest level of excellence.
