Congratulations go out to two of Ohio’s outstanding high school seniors! Hannah Dingledine of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Edward Ortiz of Medina, Ohio were named the 2024 Ohio State USBC $3,000 Scholarship winners.

Hannah is a senior at Mechanicsburg High School and is the valedictorian of her class. Her current grade point average is 4.2813. Hannah excels not only in academics but on the lanes as well. She currently bowls in the Varsity High School league and is team captain but also in the Youth Scholarship League and maintains a 191 average. In addition, her extracurricular activities include but are not limited to: Student Council, National Honor Society, FFA, Class Officer, Varsity Cheer and she volunteers at Mechanicsburg Mobil Pantry, Ohio Harness Horseman’s Assoc. Office and Urbana Charity nights, and the High School Blood Drive. She is planning to attend OSU to study veterinary medicine and she hopes to continue bowling on her college team.

Edward is a senior at Buckeye High School with a 4.5 GPA. He is currently ranked #7 in his graduating class. He is expecting an Ohio High School Honors Diploma in May 2024. Edward is active in Boy Scouts, Chess Club, Pep Band as well as Concert and Jazz Band and golf. He will graduate from Cuyahoga Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree on the same day that he graduates from Buckeye High School. He has more than 450 hours volunteer time in support of community needs and environmental causes. Edward is interested in becoming an engineer and pursuing a career that embraces innovation to reduce the environmental impact of energy sources while advancing progress and well-being.

The 2024 Ohio State USBC Convention is quickly approaching and the stage is set for an Exciting, Fun Filled, Educational day beginning with the Delegate Welcome Party on Saturday, May 18th at 10:00 AM, where delegates and guests will be greeted with donuts and coffee and the opportunity to browse the many association tables before sitting down to an Awards Luncheon where numerous individual awards will be presented, including Ohio State USBC Volunteer of the Year and Daniel L. Martin Coach of the Year. Directly following is the Annual Meeting where a President, 3 Directors and 2 Delegates to the National Convention in 2025 will be elected. The evening ends with the star-studded Hall of Fame Gala Banquet were six of Ohio’s finest will be inducted for their performances on the lanes.

Entries for the 2024 Ohio State USBC Buckeye All Events Championships have been mailed to all Local Associations. The tournament is open to the 2023-2024 All Events Handicap and Actual winners in both the Open and Women’s Championship Tournaments in any Ohio State USBC affiliated local association where All Events Handicap and Actual are part of the Local Association Tournament.  The tournament is being held at HP Lanes in Columbus on Saturday, June 1st. Entry fee is $40.00, and entrants will bowl four games across four pairs of lanes. Handicap is 90% of 225.  Squad times are 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m..  Deadline for entries is May 20, 2024.  Who will be the next Ohio Bowlers to lay claim to the four Ohio State USBC State Championship Titles on the line? Will they be from your Local Association?
