Do you find your schedule practically filling itself this time of year? TXCPA Dallas’s calendar is filling up as well. Our to-do list is growing by the hour, and we couldn’t be more excited about all that’s coming up!
It’s the time of year for giving back, and if your to-do list has room for some community outreach, we have a couple of outstanding events to fill it. On November 4, we invite you to participate in the Autism Speaks Walk at Grandscape in The Colony. We’ll be walking with the Thomas Edwards Group team in support of a respected organization that helps millions of individuals and families living with autism. Then on November 11 join your fellow TXCPA Dallas members to make sandwiches for the area’s homeless and disadvantaged at TangoTab’s Feed the City Event in The Shops at Park Lane. November is TXCPA’s Month of Service, and we would like to see all your volunteer activities this month recognized by the state Society. Send us pictures and event details, and we’ll pass them on to TXCPA.
We have some excellent CPE opportunities coming up. The Business & Industry Committee is holding another in its Behind-the-Scenes Series events. on December 6. We’ll be visiting BioLabs, a company offering a state-of-the-art co-working lab and office facility to those in the science sector. Save December 8 on your calendar for our Accounting Professionals CPE Series event featuring Aaron Borden of Grant Thornton speaking on Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) and a presentation on best practices in corporate governance by Greg Ballew of UT-Dallas. Round out the year on December 14 with a one-hour virtual class presented by Giles Pearson of Accountests Ltd. titled, Hire Fast with Confidence in Public Accounting. Lots of learning happening in December!
If the social scene is more your speed this time of year, you’re welcome to join us on Thursday, November 16 at Blue Mesa Grill for our monthly Thirsty Thursday networking event. We’ll take a break from this popular get-together in December and replace it with the Chapter Holiday Party. We end the year with this TXCPA Dallas tradition in the warm and beautifully decorated venue of Park City Club. Come raise a cup of holiday cheer with your TXCPA Dallas friends as we toast the old year and prepare to welcome the new.
In this month of thanksgiving, TXCPA Dallas wants you to know how deeply we appreciate your support, your participation and your friendship. We thank you for your membership and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future.
So…let’s review our to-do list:
- Give some time to a great cause;
- Have fun with friends;
- Register for the outstanding variety of CPE events offered by the Chapter; and
- Have a very happy – and safe – Thanksgiving!

Members will receive an electronic ballot for the upcoming election and elected individuals will begin serving June 1, 2024.
Month of Service Begins November 1
TXCPA's Month of Service is a yearly, organization-wide volunteer initiative that encourages members to give back to their local communities. Participating in Accounting Opportunities Month is one way to get involved in Month of Service – but we encourage members and chapters to give back in any meaningful way this November!
Whether it’s collecting food donations for a local food bank, hosting a toy drive for underprivileged kids, volunteering at a local animal shelter or promoting financial literacy, there are countless ways to make a positive impact. No matter how your chapter chooses to participate, don’t forget to use this online form to provide metrics on your local volunteer activities so we can promote our statewide reach. You can also share photos and videos on social media using the hashtag #TXCPAService. Don’t forget to check out the toolkit in the Chapter Leader Portal for resources to help promote Month of Service, including social media graphics and copy, newsletter blurbs, email templates and more!
November is Accounting Opportunities Month. Volunteer to Share Your Career Story
Every CPA has a story to tell, and yours can help make a difference and fuel the CPA pipeline during Accounting Opportunities Month this month. In partnership with AICPA and more than 30 state CPA societies, and in conjunction with TXCPA’s annual Month of Service, this initiative is shining a spotlight on the vast and diverse world of accounting careers.
Your journey holds the power to inspire and educate the next generation of CPAs. Here's how you can make an impact:
-
Volunteer to Visit a Texas Classroom!
Volunteer for a classroom career presentation to share your firsthand experience and insights about the accounting profession. Your stories can be a guiding light for students as they explore their career options. Complete the volunteer interest form below to tell us more about your interests and availability.
-
Share Your Story on Social Media
Use the hashtags #CPAMonth and #TXCPAService to share your unique career story, words of wisdom or message of gratitude on social media. You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to share our posts with your network.
Click here for more inspiration on showcasing your CPA journey through social media.
Help extend our reach by sharing this opportunity with educators in your network! They can visit this link to request a classroom or virtual visit during the month of November.
