Volunteers Needed!!!

We will be meeting a the WTF on Saturday, October 28th from 9-11 am to clean and organize for the upcoming winter season. Please consider volunteering a few hours of your time to help us make the facility ready for the season. If we can get 8 to 10 people, this work will go very quickly.

Club Membership

There are many reasons to join - the camaraderie we find in training together, the classes at the Winter Training Facility, the weeknight training sessions when the weather warms up. But maybe the best reason to join is the support you show for the sport you love by being a member. Renewals will be starting soon - re-up your membership, and convince a friend or two to join, or rejoin the club!

Executive Board

We are sad to announce the departure of Matt Mitchell from his position as secretary for the club. Matt was instrumental in developing our Constant Contact program to keep in touch with members, Additionally, he was instrumental on race day as a volunteer at this year’s Cazenovia race. Thank you Matt, for your hard work over these last few years!

On a happier not, Brian Rapp has volunteered to take Matt’s place. Welcome aboard Brian!

Also, the executive board would like to welcome Christine Fehrman as our new club treasurer. As a dedicated club member and a CPA, Christine is well qualified to look after our funds.

Caz Tri 2023 Wrap-up

and looking toward 2024

The club run 2023 Caz Tri was a resounding success! While there was a race-day hiccup with the timing company losing their internet connection which temporarily delayed timing reports, the race went off smoothly with over 200 participants. Many thanks to everyone who helped make it happen -- both as racers and as volunteers.

We are proud to announce that as part of the race, the club was able to make charitable donations to Hazel’s Hope, the Cazenovia Track Team, and Cazenovia Children’s House. Additionally, by contracting with Cazenovia Pizzeria and the Cazenovia Tops, we made a positive contribution to the local economy.

We would also like to remind anyone who raced that we had three professional photographers at the race, and pictures can still be purchased at https://bakpackphotography.pixieset.com/caztri2023/.

Our club president, Rich O’Neil, recommends starting your search for pictures at the “finish line” tab, as there are many excellent shots of you all pushing hard for the finish line.

And just a reminder looking forward, the 2024 Cazenovia Triathlon will be held on August 18, 2024! Tickets are scheduled to go on sale December 5, 2023 with special pricing available until Christmas. This will likely be the best entrance price we offer, so purchase your tickets early.... perhaps even as a stocking stuffer for that special racer in your life!

And as in past years, the success of the 2024 race will depend on club members stepping up to volunteer! Volunteers will be needed for many positions leading up to the race including planning, fundraising, race set-up, race in progress, and teardown. The best part? You can race and still volunteer! Many volunteer opportunities Involve pre or post race tasks!

What were planning next...

Club Clothing Order!

  • The club is working with Voler, maker of high-quality athletic wear, to offer members a chance to purchase club clothing. This is an excellent opportunity to add to your kit and support the club. We need a minimum of 25 items ordered to make this happen. It’s been a long time since we offered club clothing for sale, so this is an excellent opportunity to replace old, worn out tri shorts, bibs, and other items. And if you’ve never had a piece of club clothing, here’s the perfect chance to get some!

  • Traditional club kits are orange and green, as pictured, but if we have enough interest, there will also be a pink and purple variation.

  • Check out https://store.voler.com/ for what they have to offer, and more information, including a specific link for ordering club branded items will be coming in an email shortly.

Executive Board Elections

  • Executive board elections are coming up in November. More members of the board are always welcome. Please contact Rich O’Neil at president@CNYtriathlon.org if you are interested in taking that next step by joining the executive board.

Executive Board Meetings

  • Our next executive board meeting will be October 22, at 6pm. The first 15 minutes of our meeting is always open to any club member, via zoom. Contact president@CNYtriathlon.org for the link.
