Ribbon of Hope:

Uniting for the Safe Return of Hostages

JFS encourages you to join the #BlueRibbonsforIsrael campaign to show strong solidarity for the safe return of hostages taken by Hamas terrorists in Israel. The blue ribbon symbolizes support for the hostages, their families, and everyone concerned about their safety. The Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey is providing ribbons free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals and partner organizations can distribute these ribbons, accompanied by tips for boosting visibility and participation in #BlueRibbonsforIsrael. Stand together in solidarity for a brighter future while highlighting the need to protect civilian lives.

For more information or for help getting your ribbons, please contact us at office@jfsmiddlesex.org or 732-777-1940.

No One Should Have an Empty Thanksgiving Table

As October draws to a close, we find ourselves on the brink of the season of gratitude and giving. However, this year, we have a new challenge: grant and COVID funds for our Kosher Food Pantries have been exhausted and we continue to see more families needing food. Please help us this holiday season, let's fill the pantries so we can fill Thanksgiving tables!

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Your support is crucial in ensuring that we can meet the growing demand for food assistance. From November 1st to 20th, please take a minute to drop off canned or boxed goods that will help fill Thanksgiving tables for local families, or donate a complete meal for one family in need. Take a look at our flyer for a list of items requested.

Drop-off sites:

  • JFS Offices: 219C Blackhorse Lane, North Brunswick, NJ or 1600 Perrineville Road, Suite 26, Monroe Township, NJ
  • Provident Bank-East Brunswick: 308 Rues Lane, East Brunswick, NJ.

Your generous donation of Thanksgiving essentials or monetary gift will have a profound and meaningful impact this season. Give thanks by giving back! For online donations, visit www.jfsmiddlesex.org/donate. For more information contact 732-777-1940. Thank you for your support!

Staying Alert and Informed This Medicare Open Enrollment Period

As the open enrollment period for Medicare is upon us, JFS' Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) staff has been out and about engaging NJ residents with an overview of Medicare. This week, SMP connected with the Golden Agers at Adath Israel in Lawrenceville, NJ, where attendees received a comprehensive overview with a focus on understanding the distinctions between Original Medicare, Medicare Supplement (Medigap), and Medicare Advantage. Questions from the audience were met with thorough explanations, empowering attendees to make informed decisions about their healthcare coverage.

The session equipped attendees with valuable insights into their options, enabling them to navigate the open enrollment period with confidence and select a plan that aligns with their individual healthcare needs. If you want your group to be Medicare-savvy and fraud-resistant, contact JFS’ SMP to present at your next gathering. Contact 732-777-1940 or email charlesc@jfsmiddlesex.org for more information – presentations are free of charge.
