DACU offers
something for everyone!
Greetings!
Whether you're looking to join the timebank or seeking to reconnect with your DACU friends...we've got you covered.

Join us at our upcoming events!
Timebank Orientation
6 to 7:30 PM
Tuesday, May 10th

The Mesilla Valley Timebank is a free service exchange that builds community and resilience. Everyone interested in becoming an individual or organizational member is welcome at this virtual orientation. Click here to join via Zoom. (Can't make it? Make plans to join us on June 14th from 6 to 7:30 PM.)

DACU at Big Daddy's Flea Market
9 AM to 2 PM
Saturday, May 14th

This will be the first time we've tabled at Big Daddy's. Let us know if you'd like to be the featured timebank member who shares your talents! At recent events, different talented members have shared gardening advice and seeds, handed out their recipe for tea, and demonstrated how to braid hair.

DACU/Timebank Get-Together
5:30 to 7:30 PM
Friday, May 20th

All are welcome to (re)connect at Klein Park. We will be holding a hunt for the beautiful friendship stones we painted at last month's get-together! A light meal will be served. (Please RSVP so we can plan to have enough food.)

Thanks for continuing to build community and advance equity with all of us at DACU. We hope to see you soon!

Warmly,
Kari

Our vision: DACU aspires to a vibrant Doña Ana County where all human beings are valued and everyone works together as equals to realize our full potential for individual and collective wellbeing.

Our mission: DACU creates welcoming spaces for all people, especially those whose voices and stories go unheard. We build genuine relationships, carry out uplifting projects, and engage with local government.

Our initiatives: (1) Social equity mapping: Undervalued community members explore their neighborhoods and work with local decision makers to implement policies and projects that advance health equity. Efforts have included the Community of Hope, Gallagher Park, and the Nevada Neighborhood in Las Cruces; Elks Drive in Doña Ana; and Lisa Drive in Chaparral. (2) Mesilla Valley Timebank: Members build social cohesion and practice an equitable form of alternative economics by exchanging services. (3) Just Community radio show: Residents with lived experience of social inequities share their insights into how we can work together to advance equity in our county. (4) Participatory budgeting: The goal is for directly impacted community members to decide how public funds are spent.
