Presentation On Proposed  Development For Former Reed's Property Set For June 21

The Board of Supervisors will hear an informal introductory presentation regarding a potential land development proposal on the property located at 1486, 1462 and 1448 Skippack Pike, commonly known as the Reed’s Nightclub/Restaurant, at the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting this Tuesday, June 21, at 6 p.m.

This meeting is for information purposes only, as no formal applications have been submitted for review. If the project proceeds, the review process will follow the normal course, which starts with a review by the Township’s Planning Commission. The presentation by representatives of Franklin Realty on June 21 will simply introduce the project to Township officials and residents.

The Board of Supervisors welcomes all interested residents and members of the Township Planning Commission to attend this meeting, either in person or virtually via Zoom.

Township Recognizes Juneteenth

Township offices will be closed Monday, June 20, in recognition of the Juneteenth holiday.

Juneteenth is also known as a second Independence Day in our Nation’s History and commemorates the date in 1865 when union troops arrived in Galveston Bay and announced that enslaved people were free.

Despite the fact that the Emancipation Proclamation and 13th Amendment, which freed all slaves, was passed in 1863, it could not be implemented in places still under Confederate control.

Curb-Line Milling For Road Resurfacing Project Begins Next Week

Curb-line milling for the Township’s annual road resurfacing project will begin early next week.

Other prep work, including repairs to storm sewer inlets and sanitary sewer manholes, has already started. Curb-line milling will take approximately 8-days to complete, assuming Mother Nature cooperates.

Road resurfacing will occur in late July or early August. As the date draws closer, a day-by-day schedule will be posted.

Curb-line milling and road resurfacing is weather-dependent and the schedule is subject to change.

Code Enforcement Officer Remembered

On June 10, the Township dedicated a pavilion and plaque at Erbs Mill Park to the memory of long-time Code Enforcement Officer Mike McAndrew. Family, friends, and Township staff joined with the Board of Supervisors and other officials for the dedication.

Mike was hired in 1984 and served Whitpain and its residents continually until earlier this year. With a Township career spanning parts of five decades, Mike was a staunch safety advocate and a great resource for residents.
