Winnipeg, MB (November 10, 2023) - Larry Wegner, a former MFGA chair that has served as a driving force behind the creation of the annual Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association (MFGA) Regenerative Agriculture Conference, and John McGregor, a retired Manitoba Agricultural representative that helped expand the MFGA Green Gold Program into a provincial program serving all Manitoba forage producers, represent the MFGA’s third inductee class to the MFGA Wall of Fame as announced today on the cusp of the organization’s sixth annual regenerative agriculture conference next week in Brandon, November 13-15, 2023.

“I have had the privilege of working with both of these gentlemen who have contributed so much to our MFGA organization,” said Lawrence Knockaert, MFGA chair. “Larry gave us leadership at the board table as our chair and outwardly to our audiences via his network, blogs and expertise. He has a finger on the pulse of regen ag in Manitoba and North America.”
“As well as delivering his professional forage extension duties before retiring at Manitoba Agriculture, John deserves a ton of credit for his leadership, advocacy and delivery of the MFGA Green Gold Program, especially to benefit Manitoba’s dairy farmers and beef producers.”
The 2023 class brings the number of MFGA Wall of Fame honourees to ten over the three years of the tribute-intended designation. The MFGA Wall of Fame resides on MFGA.net. Knockaert said the nominations were collected in conversations and at board meetings and the elected 2023 duo was unanimously approved by MFGA board members during meetings leading up to the MFGA AGM. He said a main criterion of the induction process is that the inductees cannot be current board members or staff members. Both Wegner and McGregor stepped away from official MFGA duties in 2021 and will continue to contribute as writers of MFGA Blogs and key areas of the MFGA Ebulletin.
