So Said Saint Vincent

Vincentian Insights from the Province
Fr. John Freund, CM
How My Father taught me about “Our Father”
At some level, I assumed all fathers were like my father. I have always loved and admired my father. Using the image of a loving father helped me understand God’s love. A seminarian’s observation led me to appreciate my father more. Read the post HERE.

Trinitarian Living (John 16: 12-15)

The mystery of the Trinity is definitely that: a mystery who’s depth and range we can never come close to penetrating. But one avenue onto its meaning comes from the question, “How does God relate to us?” This doctrine of the Trinity sheds light on three different ways in which the Divinity enters our lives.

A Vincentian View: A Vincentian Heart

As the 2021-2022 Chair, the Vincentian Center for Church and Society (VCCS) chose Fr. Danny Pilario, CM, a Vincentian priest in the Philippines. A well-known author, lecturer, and teacher, Fr. Danny maintains a particular following in the Asian community. As his topic, he selected “The Summons of Social Justice: Perspectives from Asian Christianities.” All his presentations involved insights on this theme and this part of our world.
The lessons, however, apply everywhere.

Ukraine:
Where’s the United Nations?
In his editorial, Jim Claffey, UN NGO for the Congregation of the Mission, asks the questions: "Why didn’t the United Nations prevent the war in Ukraine?" "Isn’t it supposed to keep the peace?" "Why isn’t it using its army now to stop the violence and destruction?"

Saying “Yes” to God
Meet Newly Ordained Vincentian, Fr. Walner Diaz, CM
On Saturday, June 4, a procession of Vincentian Priests and Brothers entered The Miraculous Medal Shrine for the priestly ordination of transitional deacon Walner Diaz, CM. A verse from the entrance hymn, "O, Lord, with your eyes set upon me, gently smiling, you have spoken my name," was a reminder that we were there to witness God’s loving call to this young man, inviting him to minister as a priest. Click here to watch the highlights of this great moment in Fr. Walner Diaz's life.

The “Berceau” of St. Vincent de Paul
Welcomes Ukrainian Refugees
At the request of the Prefecture and in partnership with the Red Cross, the
“Oeuvre du Berceau de Saint Vincent
de Paul” welcomed Ukrainians displaced
by war and has been doing so since
March 19. This response, coming on the feast of Saint Joseph, must have been a nod from the Lord. In his birthplace,
St. Vincent must have also rejoiced at the arrival of these people. Read the full story HERE.
Very Vincentian Poem
Each Man For Himself
By TYKTMY

Children starving,
children dying.
While the world just sits there,
thriving.
Living in their own worlds,
without a care in the world.
Not worried because it’s not them
out there all alone.
Why should we care?
Who are they?
Take care of our own first.
But they are our own
because we are all one.
We’ve got to take care of each other,
for if you don’t take care of them,
Who will take care of you?
