SUMMER 2023 NEWSLETTER

THE OUTREACH CENTRE'S

3RD ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

The Outreach Centre is proud to announce that the 3nd Annual Golf Classic raised almost $57,000.

Held at the Red Deer Golf & Country Club, the event started with a Cocktail Party on Sunday, June 11. On Monday, June 12, 36 teams competed in the golf classic, followed by dinner and an awards ceremony.

Funds were raised through sponsorship opportunities, monetary donations and registration fees, in addition to a live and silent auction. Proceeds from the event will go towards the programs and services offered at The Outreach Centre, supporting the individuals served in their pursuit of healthy relationships, mental health wellbeing, housing stability and self-sufficiency.

Thank you to the sponsors, golfers and volunteers for contributing to the success of this event!

WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

Observed on September 10 every year, World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) provides the opportunity for people across the globe, to raise awareness of suicide and promote action through proven means that will reduce the number of suicides and suicide attempts globally.

We are here to provide support to all who are impacted by suicide or dealing with suicidal thoughts. We have resources to help those who are struggling. Please reach out if you have any questions about our programming or suicide prevention, intervention or postvention.

UPCOMING EVENT

WALK-A-MILE IN HER SHOES

Join us on September 13, 2023 to bring attention and awareness to gender-based and domestic violence issues in the community. Raise pledges, join together and walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes, or your footwear of choice.

Funds raised through Walk a Mile in HER Shoes® Red Deer allow The Outreach Centre to provide supports, advocacy and services to individuals and families experiencing violence. From safety and transitional living to counselling and safety planning, we provide life-changing and life-saving supports to survivors.

Walk a Mile in HER Shoes® Red Deer not only raises much-needed funds for The Outreach Centre, but it also raises awareness of the issue of gender-based and domestic violence in our city and surrounding communities.

This year's event will take place in Downtown Red Deer. More details, including parking and walking route information, will be coming soon!

If you have any questions, please contact Myles Peake at 403.347.2480 or walkamile@theoutreachcentre.org.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

CHEERS PUB & PATIO

Cheers Pub & Patio offers live entertainment, good food and even better company! Located in the heart of Red Deer, they are huge community supporters, often holding meat draws and 50/50 raffles in support of local non-profit organizations.

The Outreach Centre has been the recipient of these proceeds and we are so grateful for the support!

TOOLS FOR SCHOOL

Success starts on the first day! Last year, over 1100 kids in central Alberta went back to school with backpacks and school supplies thanks to Tools for School.

This program is solely dependent on donations from the community. Through your generosity, a family can feel confident and excited to send their child back to school with the tools they need to succeed.
