Structure and Clear Limits Training
August 14, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Ever wonder why some children participate in engaging activities while others put their head down on the table? In this training, youth development program staff will learn to recognize and respond to youth needs by creating routines and establishing effective guidelines and consequences that will result in positive youth engagement.
Youth Voice Training
August 14, from 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
Are you providing children and youth with authentic, meaningful choices throughout your program? Does your program reflect the input of the youth involved? Participants will learn how to provide meaningful choices within activities and opportunities for youth input within the youth program itself.
Reframing Conflict Training
August 16, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
Learn to use a problem-solving approach to turn conflicts into educational opportunities. This workshop provides a six-step, youth-centered, nonthreatening way of resolving conflicts that occur in youth settings.
Planning and Reflection Training
August 16, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Guide the children and youth in your programs through planning their activities, reflecting on how they approached their activity, and thinking about what they learned. Participants will learn powerful, easy-to-use methods that promote youth engagement in planning, implementing, and evaluating activities and projects.
Peer Learning Group: Thinking & Doing Session #1
August 24, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
This peer learning series will give K-5 Youth Development (YD) staff the opportunity to share with their peers the activity plans, strategies and resources they have been implementing thus far in programming and what they plan to do differently in the upcoming year. Sharing and reflecting on these activity plans will offer all participants a deeper understanding of how incorporating “Thinking and Doing” learning approaches will best meet the needs of all children in their program.

If your program has chosen to use any of the Social Emotional Learning Outcome Assessments (Child Trends Survey, PYDI, or YAPS), please note that as of this writing, the old versions of the SEL Outcome Assessment courses have been removed from Trust Academy and have been replaced with the following, updated courses:
- SEL Outcome Assessment: PYDI Grades 6-12
- SEL Outcome Assessment: The Child Trends Survey Grades K-5
- SEL Outcome Assessment: YAPS Grades 6-12
If you have an incomplete, older version of the course under My Courses, you will need to add the new version of the course from the Trust Academy Course Catalog, then take the course. Attempting to complete an older version of the course will likely lead to technical issues. To avoid any issues, please make sure the title of the course you are taking begins with, "SEL Outcome Assessment:"

SNAP Outreach Grants Available from Department of Children and Families * |
The Florida Department of Children and Families (Department), Office of Economic Self Sufficiency (ESS), is the agency in the State of Florida (State) that implements the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP is a program to assist eligible low-income clients to purchase healthy foods. Although SNAP is a federal program, it is administered by State agencies and local social and human service offices.

Change the Life of a Child in Foster Care; Serve on a Citizen Review Panel * | Florida Foster Care Review, which advances the safety, stability and success of abused and neglected children, youth and young adults by connecting them to essential services, healthy relationships and forever families, seeks caring community members to volunteer one weekday a month for a minimum of one year to serve on its Citizen Review Panel (CRP); volunteers must be at least 25 years old. The CRP conducts reviews (over Zoom) of active, judge-referred child welfare court cases. | |

The Business Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of The Children' Trust. This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision of the work performed by the Accountants, Senior Accounting Analysts, Accounting Operations Manager and Fiscal Data Integrity Analyst of The Children’s Trust in accordance with The Children’s Trust (The Trust) procurement and accounting policies and procedures, Generally Accepted Principles (GAAP), regulations promulgated by the Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB) and Government Auditing Standards. The position manages the full life cycle of assigned funded program(s) and services located throughout Miami-Dade County. This person requires occasional non-traditional work hours (weekends and evenings) and reliable transportation.
This professional position will support the Programs Management Team in implementing strategies that foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. Site Director
The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school-year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s six host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.
The individual in this role is able to operate effectively in diverse environments, achieve outcomes in a flexible, fast-paced environment, lead change and inspire others to action, and communicate consistently and effectively.
Drector, BreakthroughU - College Access
The Director, BreakthroughU – College Access oversees all activities that support high school student college-preparedness, including all BreakthroughU site programs. The director will build relationships with students, parents, and key high school and college partners to help students build the life and leadership skills necessary to enroll in competitive colleges and pursue career goals. The Director plays a leadership role in developing program, and research partnerships with the University of Miami, and maintains mechanisms for ongoing engagement of BTM college-based alumni.
