Cyber-interested Middle School Students & Parents!

Want to explore cybersecurity concepts? Looking to learn more about cybersecurity and didn’t know where to start? UCCS and NCC are hosting 2 Summer Intro to Cybersecurity Camps in June.

Students will master the basics of cybersecurity in a week-long camp that emphasizes hands-on learning and teaches cybersecurity from the ground up. Students will play cyber games, learn cyber concepts, and hear from community leaders in cybersecurity about their diverse careers and experiences in cyber with a new guest speaker each day.

Hello Mountaineers! As we focus on finishing this year strong, we are also preparing to start next year even stronger! CECCS Advisors will begin building fall schedules AFTER final grades have been submitted for this semester. Students will have the chance to view fall schedules in Infinite Campus before the first day of school in August. Please be sure to check your CEC student email for updates on viewing windows. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Every effort is made to honor course preferences, but choices are not guaranteed. Alternates may be used if a student did not pass a prerequisite or if a class is full, conflicts with a required course, or is no longer offered. Contact your advisor if you have questions. 

REMEMBER: Concurrent Enrollment Agreements (affectionately called CEAs!) are required for ALL students taking a college course. These forms are in the Advising Department and require signatures from students and their parents or guardian.

TAKING AN APPROVED COLLEGE SELECT (OFF- CAMPUS) CLASS THIS SUMMER OR FALL?

Confirm registration for off-campus courses by sending the REQUIRED screenshot of the "Detailed Student Schedule" to your advisor BEFORE May 15th. This is required for course payment authorization.

Students should also verify textbook requirements and voucher funding before attending a summer course. See advisors for additional details.

COLLEGE BOARD SAT/PSAT SCORES

High school students that took the April SAT, PSAT 10, or PSAT 9 please follow the directions below to access your scores.

• Scores will be released to students through their College Board accounts on May 16th.
• To access your score, go to your College Board portal HERE.
• If you have never had a College Board account, you can create one.
• If you had a College Board account and do not remember your login information, do not create a new account. Choose ‘need help signing in’ or call College Board support at 866-630-9305.
• CECCS staff will not have access to your score until the summer.

The Venture Validator Summer Camp is a week-long program hosted by the CSU College of Business Institute for Entrepreneurship designed for incoming 7th-12th grade students to explore what it takes to become an entrepreneur in an engaging, and fun space. Students will combine problems they want to solve with their ideas to fix them and then start the journey of launching a business to do just that.

CU DENVER ONLINE (FREE) SUMMER CAMP FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The GenCyber Summer Camp program at the CU Denver Business School provides exciting, hands-on cybersecurity experiences for students at the K-12 level. Students will explore various aspects of cybersecurity with hands-on exercises and games, including ethical hacking, social engineering, computer and digital forensics, networking fundamentals, cyber threats, cybersecurity careers, ethics in cybersecurity, and online safety.

No previous cybersecurity knowledge is required. CU Denver GenCyber is entirely free and open to all high school students in Colorado. Camp materials, including Raspberry Pi kits, virtual labs, and games, will be provided free of charge for hands-on learning. Students will receive a Certificate of Achievement at the end of the camp. Funding is jointly provided by the National Security Agency and National Science Foundation.

The end of the year is both exciting and a bit stressful. Here are a few strategies for making the best of it!

• Prepare. Be specific in setting aside time on your calendar for each course.
• Get quality sleep. Nothing is better for your brain than good rest.
• Keep a routine. Regular study time, supports exam performance FAR better than random cramming.
• TALK to your teachers & advisors. They WANT to help you!
• BREATHING breaks. 20 deep intentional breaths to reset your mind.
• Eat! Your body & brain need quality fuel during demanding times.
• Take a Walk. Great way to clear the mind when feeling anxious.
• Don't compare yourself to others. Everyone learns in different ways and that is OK! Do yourself a favor and take a break from social media during finals. You CAN do it!

The CECCS Mental Health Team will have Go Team Therapy Dogs visiting CECCS in the High School Courtyard on Thursday, May 9th during lunch to give students a brain break and a boost of encouragement before finals.

El fin de año es emocionante y un poco estresante. ¡Aquí hay algunas estrategias para aprovecharlo al máximo!

• Preparar. Sea específico al reservar tiempo en su calendario para cada curso.
• Consigue un sueño de calidad. Nada es mejor para tu cerebro que un buen descanso.
• Mantenga una rutina. El tiempo de estudio regular respalda el rendimiento en los exámenes MUCHO mejor que estudiar al azar.
• HABLA con tus profesores y asesores. ¡QUIEREN ayudarte!
• LA RESPIRACIÓN se interrumpe. 20 respiraciones profundas intencionales para restablecer tu mente.
• ¡Comer! Tu cuerpo y tu cerebro necesitan combustible de calidad en tiempos difíciles.
• Dar un paseo. Excelente manera de despejar la mente cuando te sientes ansioso.
• No te compares con los demás. ¡Todos aprenden de diferentes maneras y eso está bien! Hazte un favor y tómate un descanso de las redes sociales. ¡Puedes hacerlo!

El equipo de salud mental de CECCS tendrá perros de terapia del equipo Go visitando CECCS en el patio de la escuela secundaria el jueves 9 de mayo durante el almuerzo para brindarles a los estudiantes un descanso mental y un impulso de aliento antes de los exámenes finales.
