Dear Seniors and Families:

This is the most important newsletter, so it's important to read it carefully!

This final newsletter contains important information about final transcripts and other college-related reminders. We know many of you are still making your final college decisions. Please check-in with me if you have special circumstances and need more time to make your final college decision.

Important, Check College Mail/Portals: Continue to meet deadlines for your respective colleges, failure to meet deadlines may result in losing your spot. Riordan can only send official transcripts from our courses.

Conditional Admissions: Your admissions decisions are conditional on the successful completion of your senior-year courses(i.e. no D or I grades). Please use the resources available to you!

RIORDAN DEADLINES

  • May 3rd at noon: Colleges Listed on Graduation Program Students
  • You must update SCOIR with your attending college by this deadline for your intended college to be included in graduation programs.

  • The program includes a general list of where the Class of 2024 is going to college. It will not specify which students are attending each college.

  • We understand that many of you are still deciding or are waiting for waitlists, but the printer has a strict deadline.

  • May 15th: Final Transcript Deadline
  • You must update SCOIR by this deadline in order for your final transcript to be sent to your intended college. If your intended college is not listed as "Enrolled" in SCOIR, Riordan will not send a final transcript to your college.

  • Please email your college counselor if you are waiting on financial aid/waitlists and have special circumstances that prevent you from meeting this deadline.

It's been a privilege and honor working with your class throughout this process. We wish you all the best as you navigate this next chapter. We believe in all of you and are cheering you on from here!

We R so proud of you and look forward to seeing you all cross that stage at Graduation! In the meantime, please continue to reach out if needed.

Thank you,

Mr. Lin & the Senior Support Team

P.S. Come by the wing to pick up one of these stickers.

College Application Reminders

Save the Date: College Sweater Day on May 16

We will be taking the annual College Sweater Photo of seniors before graduation practice on May 16. Class of 2023 is pictured below.

On May 23, you will be able to view your final grades. During the week of June 3, Mrs. Birmingham, our registrar automatically sends transcripts for *all students who've met graduation requirements to the college a student lists as enrolling on SCOIR (except community colleges).

WITHHOLDING GRADES: If you would like us to hold your final transcript until you've submitted grade repairs, please immediately notify Mrs. Birmingham and your class counselor Ms. Aguas.

OTHER REQUESTS/CHANGES IN ENROLLMENT:

Please email our registrar Mrs. Birmingham if:

  • If you'd like a copy of your final transcript sent to a scholarship or any other organization like the NCAA
  • If after June 3, you are admitted off of a waitlist and decide to attend another school. Please copy Ms. Aguas and me on this email.

Transfer Students/Outside Riordan Courses: Double-check if a college requires an official transcript from your former school or courses you reported on your application (ex. CCSF, Silicon Valley HS). If they do, you must contact the school to you attended to send an official transcript.

ATTENDING A CSU OR UC?

Here are important reminders regarding sending official documents to the CSUs and UCs:

  • CHECK YOUR PORTALS!

  • Senior Fall Grades: If your college requires that we send them your fall senior grades, email me ASAP. These were not automatically sent unless a student requested them

  • Grade Repairs/Transfers:

You are required to send an official copy of your transcripts if you:

  • Reported a grade repair from another school (ex. Silicon Valley)

  • Transferred from/Attended another school

  • Reported that you took a community college class

  • AP Scores: If you reported AP scores to colleges, it's important you send them directly from the college board.

The New Man Ministry use a world-class centralized referral system to connect graduating high school students to their Catholic campus ministry, allowing campus ministers to contact their incoming students before they arrive on campus. This will give new students the opportunity to learn about the campus ministry program, to become familiar with the Mass schedules, Catholic student activities, and to meet other Catholic students.

Riordan automatically submits the name and college of all of our graduates.

If you do NOT want us to submit your information, please complete this form by Friday, May 10.

Check out these upcoming scholarship opportunities. Please click here for a database of scholarships and scholarship search engines (tab two).

If required, college recommendations can be used for scholarships. I can send your transcript or letters of recommendation to scholarship organizations, please contact me with directions for sending them.
