Apply for the Community Stakeholder Group by Nov. 6

The District is accepting applications from community members wishing to participate in the Shaker Schools Facilities Advisory Committee. To apply, click here

The committee is a stakeholder group that will help shape and guide implementation of the Long-Term Master Facilities Plan, provide community feedback as the District works to implement the Master Facilities Plan and engage with the broader community regarding the implementation of the Master Facilities Plan.

Submissions for this form are due by 5 p.m. on November 6. The stakeholder group will consist of approximately 30 members. Half of the group will be determined by random lottery and half will be appointed by the District and Board of Education to ensure equitable demographic and geographic representation.

Members of the group will be identified by mid-November. It is expected the group will hold its first meeting by early December and will meet monthly thereafter.

Update on the Renovation of Ludlow Elementary School

The three finalists for Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) on the former Ludlow Elementary School renovation project toured the building Thursday, November 2.

The companies were accompanied on the tour by District leaders as well as representatives from the GPD Group, the firm handling architectural and design services for conversion of the school into a PreK complex. A CMAR is a project delivery method which entails a commitment by the Construction Manager to deliver the project within a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP).

The three firms seeking to serve as CMAR are:

  • Gilbane Building Co.
  • Panzica Construction Co.
  • Infinity Construction Co.

Interviews with the three firms will take place November 16. The District will make a recommendation to the Board of Education at its December 5 meeting.

Additionally, the GPD Group held a “meet the architects'' event October 26 at the High School. During the meeting, the architects shared information about the Ludlow project and answered questions from those in attendance. To view GPD’s slide presentation, click here.

On October 30, the GPD Group and District leaders held a sustainability kickoff meeting in which sustainability plans for the Ludlow project were discussed, including plans to qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) designation and formation of a sustainability committee that would include members of the public.
