Dear Parents,

Where has the time gone? It seems I was just writing a welcome-to-camp letter and next week we will say goodbye to Summer and HELLO to our 18th School Year at Kids For Kids Academy.

I hope that your child had a wonderful summer with us. Whether it was our preschoolers traveling the globe on our Summer Passport for Fun or our Elementary kids as they had a summer STEM science experience. I have loved seeing all of the great artwork and projects and all the excitement our little engineers and super scientists showed these past few months.

This will be our last weekly letter since next week is a short one. Here are some of the things to look forward to and things to do next week as we prepare for the new school year:

--Be sure to sign up for a time slot either 4:00 or 5:00 for our Open House which will take place on FRIDAY, AUGUST 11th. We will welcome up to 2 adults per family. Children are not permitted at this event.

--Beat the rush and get your school uniforms early. We will have all sizes available starting on Monday. Ask for what you need and we will bill your accounts. Remember starting August 14, the school polo is worn Monday-Thursday and the T-shirt is for Friday...(Unless your child is a baby in Green Door, they can wear whatever fits them as the polo may be too big).

--Next week we will put out all used uniforms that have been donated. If you wish to send the ones that no longer fit your child, please do so. Families are invited to take as many as they wish. What a great way to recycle and save families money! When you see them, help yourself. We will sort them by sizes, but keep in mind they have been washed in some cases over a year period so they may end up being a size smaller than the number on the tag.

--ALL students will get a NEW school bag. Starting next week, please pick one out and take it home and put your child's name on it with a Sharpie. Those who nap with us will also get a NEW pillow and blanket. All those items are free, if you wish to purchase a pillowcase they are $5 and we can bill your account.

--To be environmentally conscious, hard copies of the orientation handbook WILL NOT BE PASSED OUT. On the day of orientation, you will get a link to click on with the class schedule and the orientation highlights, and first-day reminders. The document will be both in English and Spanish. By having a digital copy that lives on our website, we can save some trees and you can refer back to it any time. Families WILL get a hard copy of the school calendar and the lunch menu.

--Please note, if you are shopping for other back-to-school items, starting 8/14, we will only allow solid color jackets. Jackets with superheroes and other characters will no longer be permitted. We have had a very difficult time with student behavior. We find when kids wear those character hoodies, they act out like the character. Please help us to enforce this new policy.

--If you wish to set up a table for your business at the event on August 11th, please let me know. The table space is free, you just need to bring your own table.

I especially love the first/last day of school sign which will come in handy! Remember if you order, use the code Kidsforkids for no shipping charge. She will deliver all orders placed by 8/9 to the school to be ready for the first day!

Finally, please remember we close at 2:00 pm on Thursday 8/10, and are CLOSED all day Friday to prepare to welcome you to our OPEN HOUSE at 4:00 and 5:00 pm. When arriving for Open House, PLEASE BE ON TIME so that the teacher can start her presentation right away and you won't miss a thing!
