Westside Economic Alliance turns 25!

As we kick off 2023, WEA begins a year-long celebration of our 25th Anniversary.

Throughout this year we will be taking time to look back at how our region has grown and changed over the last quarter century, while continuing to provide information and advocacy opportunities as we look ahead to the next 25 years.

January Events
WEA is excited to announce our first in-person Legislative Reception since 2020. Join us to engage in this annual event featuring a lively conversation about how we work together to continue to create a vibrant economy on Portland's Westside.

Executive Director Elizabeth Mazzara Myers will moderate a conversation with state lawmakers covering key issues that matter to you and to our region. Plan to engage around the current business climate, what it takes to create a well-trained, well-paid workforce and what it looks like to live in a healthy community.

Westside electeds sworn in
 
Local governments across the Westside swore in newly elected officials this week. Congratulations to many of our public partners who won election, and re-election, this past fall. Among them were three of WEA's Board of Directors, Mayor Frank Bubenik of Tualatin, Mayor Heidi Lueb of Tigard and Metro Councilor Juan Carlos Gonzalez.
Frank Bubenik is sworn in for a second term as Mayor of Tualatin. Bubenik has served on the City Council since 2010.
Heidi Lueb is sworn in as first woman Mayor of Tigard.
This week she gaveled in the most diverse council in Tigard's history.
Metro Councilors Lewis and Gonzalez watch as Justice Adrienne Nelson oversees Councilor Huang's oath signing.
Committee Updates
2023 Committee Meeting Schedules

As we begin a new year, we are also launching a new schedule for our Transportation and Land Use & Housing Committees.

Land Use & Housing Committee will meet every other month starting in January, with a hold on the alternating months for emergent issues. The committee will continue to meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 12 - 1:30 p.m. and will meet ONLINE ONLY unless otherwise noted. Click here to request a calendar invite.

The Transportation Committee will meet every other month starting in February, with the same hold on alternating months. The committee will continue to meet the second Wednesday of the month, 7:30 - 9 a.m. and will hold HYBRID MEETINGS unless otherwise noted. Click here to request a calendar invite.

Government Relations will continue to meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month, 7:30 - 9 am. Click here to request a calendar invite.
