SPRING 2024 HOUSING PROCESSES ARE NOW AVAILABLE!

Today marks the official start of the second half of the semester! We hope you’ve enjoyed Fall Break and are excited about the weeks to come. 

As a reminder, our Spring 2024 Housing Processes are now available via the Housing Portal. These processes include Pull-In Requests, the Off-Campus Lottery (if eligible), and Housing Selection. Prior to engaging in any process, you’ll be required to review (or submit) your Spring Intent which is due October 31. 

Below, you’ll find additional details about each process. Please read each of them carefully and in its entirety. 

PULL-IN REQUESTS

In the event of a vacancy in their room, suite, or apartment, a remaining resident may pull in a new roommate of choice rather than having a new roommate assigned via Housing Selection or by the Office of Residence Life and Housing.

To pull in a new roommate, the remaining resident must complete the pull-in section of the Room Change Request form found on the Housing Portal between October 18 and November 8. As you are currently not on campus, you may not submit a pull-in request but may be requested as a new roommate by a current resident. 

OFF-CAMPUS LOTTERY

Students with less than six semesters of housing credit should not make any plans to live off-campus unless they have been released in writing from the residency requirement by the Office of Residence Life and Housing.

As a part of the Spring 2024 Housing Process, students who have earned at least four housing credits may choose to enter the Off-Campus Lottery. This indicates a desire to live off-campus prior to fulfilling the residency requirement. As the Office of Residence Life and Housing finalizes the number of students able to live on campus for the spring semester, they will use random selection to release the appropriate number of students.

DISABILITY-RELATED ACCOMMODATIONS

Students who need to request disability-related accommodation should visit the Housing Portal at go.wfu.edu/housingportal to begin the request process. For the Spring term, all students should provide a completed request and all supporting documentation for review by November 15th.

Please note that a release from the University’s six-semester on-campus housing requirement is generally not considered a reasonable accommodation. Most housing or dining accommodations can be made among the current residential facilities on campus. 

SPRING-ONLY HOUSING SELECTION

Students who are abroad for the Fall 2023 semester will take part in our Spring Only Housing Selection process, which will take place on December 6, 2023, via the Housing Portal. Please read below for an overview of the process.

• The Spring Only Housing Application will open on October 18. Students may begin forming roommate groups and if interested, enter the Off-Campus Lottery (see below for more details). 
• Note: Please plan on small roommate groups (max of 4 students) to align with available housing options. Students can also be “pulled” into vacancies on campus. (See below for more details) 
• Updates about Housing Requests and Releases, (including results for the Off-Campus Lottery) will be communicated by Nov. 17. Students with less than six semesters of housing credits should not plan to make any plans to live off-campus unless they have been released from the residency requirement, in writing, from the Office of Residence Life and Housing. 
• Students participating in Spring Only Housing Selection will select their room and meal plan for the spring semester, on December 6. 
• Please note that options will be limited; you are not guaranteed the option to select a roommate group or roommate of choice. It is possible that you will need to fill an empty bed in a double room with an existing roommate. 
• You will receive an email via your WFU email address with specific instructions to select your Spring housing and meal plan. This email will also include your selection time. All selection times will be in Eastern time, so please plan accordingly. 
• Join our team on Thursday, October 26 at 11 a.m. EST for a webinar on Spring Only Housing Selection! We’ll walk you through the process and answer whatever questions you may have, in preparation for selection. Details will be posted on rlh.wfu.edu under announcements.

All Spring 2024 processes will close on November 8 at 9 a.m. All updates about Housing Requests and Releases will be communicated by November 17.
