Clergy Gathered in Retreat at Honey Creek
Deacons and priests of the Diocese have been gathered at Honey Creek this week for the Spring Clergy Retreat. As is always true of these gatherings, worship has been the heart of the event. Sermons from the Rev.s Becky Rowell, David Rose, Nathan Wilson, and Shayna Cranford grounded the time in the Word. Bishop Logue also preached at the Eucharist with the Rev. Kimberly Dunn as officiant. The retreat also allowed time for three significant periods of discussion as a group, both hearing from Bishop Logue about the Diocese and broader Episcopal Church, offering feedback on some proposed changes, and in speaking to one another about the challenges and joys of ministry. A Tuesday afternoon kickball game and a evening session of 3-minute PowerPoints also allowed different ways of being together including a time of sharing things we are passionate about in order to get to know one another better.

The Rev. Samantha McKean's presentation on Tofu was hilarious as well as informative and the Rev. Ted Clarkson shows hustle in the kickball game.

In recognition of Pentecost, join us May 17-19, 2024 for an exploration of the rhythms, gateways, and symbols that resonate within us and serve as guideposts for our journeys. Professor Emerita of Georgia Southwestern State University, Gabriele Stauf, will use guided meditations to lead participants on their own internal exploration, while Karen Kinnamon of Just Peace Yoga and Wellness will provide yoga sessions to enliven the body, focus the mind, and ignite the spirit. Using the inspiration of place and space at Honey Creek and the wisdom of yoga, participants will have time for deep inner looking and listening. No prior yoga experience is necessary to attend this retreat.
Participants will register for lodging and meals through Honey Creek, and then have an additional $145 fee paid to Just Peace Yoga for retreat materials and teacher guidance during the retreat. After registering with Honey Creek, an email will be sent for additional payment. If you have any questions, please email justpeaceyoga.americus@gmail.com.
