2024 ILLINOIS LICENSE RENEWAL

2024 is a license renewal year for Illinois. General dentist license, dental specialty licenses, dental hygienist licenses, controlled substance licenses, dental sedation permits and temporary licenses credentials expire on September 30, 2024.


Dentists are required to attest they have completed of a minimum of 48 hours of continuing education over the three-year licensing period. Hygienists will be required to attest to 36 hours of continuing education over the three-year period. Anyone who renews late or is audited by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, will have to show proof of completion of all courses.

Give Kids A Smile - 2024 Event


This is a reminder to be part of the GKAS Movement and sign up your 2024 Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) event data no later than November 15, if you would like to request "free" GKAS product kits for your program.


With the help of programs like yours, nearly 300,000 underserved children received much-needed oral health services through Give Kids A Smile in 2023.

PAID LEAVE FOR ALL WORKERS


In March 2023, Illinois enacted the Paid Leave for All Workers Act, which requires most Illinois employers to provide their employees with up to 40 hours per year of paid leave for any reason. The Illinois Department of Labor has issued answers to frequently asked questions about the law, which takes effect January 1, 2024.


Last month, ISDS hosted a live CE webinar to help inform dental practices of this new law going into effect in 2024. This webinar is now available in an on-demand format, which is free to ISDS members and offers 1 hour of continuing education credit. To register, click here.

10 Under 10 Award Nominations Now Open


Developed by the ADA New Dentist Committee in 2017, this award recognizes 10 amazing dentists who graduated from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation less than 10 years ago. We’re celebrating dentists who demonstrate excellence and inspire others in science, research & education, practice excellence, philanthropy, leadership and advocacy.

  • Enacted legislation that safeguards your practice against network leasing, a deceptive bait-and-switch tactic used by insurance companies to maximize their revenue. 


  • Advocated for legislation that requires dental insurance carriers to allocate a minimum of 80% of collected premium dollars toward patient care.
