Greetings!

It is officially summer, but while the concert season may be over, there are still ways to hear great music, and even to make some. Here is a message from Kent:

I am thrilled to be looking forward to the Amherst Early Music Festival and the first in-person Choral Workshop in three years! I hope you will consider joining me in Bethlehem, PA, this August 14-21 for the festival’s Choral Workshop, in which we will dive into two of J. S. Bach’s great early cantatas: Christ lag in Todes Banden and Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit. The workshop is geared towards the serious amateur choral singer, so come ready for a great learning and singing experience! And if you’d like to hear the fruits of our labors, you can come to the culminating performance on August 19:

There is also once again the opportunity to hear great choral music at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine every Sunday afternoon – I’m delighted to announce the return of Evensong service every Sunday at 4 PM, beginning July 3. This is a peaceful traditional choral service with scripture readings; everything else is sung by the Cathedral Choir! We sing a broad range of repertoire, from glorious anthems of the Anglican tradition to Renaissance motets, music by contemporary composers, and chant. This weekly service is free and open to all!

I hope you will join me in Bethlehem in August, and the Upper West Side on Sunday afternoons!
