Prayers for Ukraine - look for blue and gold pieces of yarn in baskets by doors to the sanctuary. Take some yarn and tie it on our Trees of Lament along the Promenade (or anywhere you like) to express your prayers for Ukrainian people. You can find some additional information about this prayer practice here. May God give us all hope and courage and compassion.

Prayer Requests - Would you like to share a joy or concern with our community or church staff? Please share the details here.

Can you help us let healthcare workers know that they are appreciated with handwritten notes of encouragement?

Please see suggestions for messages here.

The 21-Day Disability Equity Challenge begins August 1

During the month of August, United Way of Washtenaw County and the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living invite you to take the 21-Day Disability Equity Challenge. This is a statewide effort to explore disability from a position of equity and pride and is designed to raise awareness, increase understanding, and shift perspectives about disability in our culture. You'll receive an email each weekday morning during August from our partner, United Way of South Central Michigan. Each day's content includes a brief introduction on a topic related to disability, followed by resources such as podcasts, articles and information to help us be a more informed and more compassionate community.

Help with Sound and Livestream

Did you know?:

  • We have been livestreaming our Sunday morning services every week since October 2021.
  • We have more than 40 people every Sunday morning who watch our service live from a remote location (home, vacation, winter home, etc.).
  • Another 200 people or so watch the recordings of our livestreams on YouTube (our Easter service was watched by 1,700 people!).

The livestream team is looking for eight people who would be interested in volunteering one Sunday a month to help produce our livestream. For more information, click here.

Iran and a Century of Fight for Freedom

Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 11:15 a.m., in-person in the Chapel or on Zoom

Sponsored by Global Issues

Everyone is invited to join this discussion about Iran led by Mitra Aliabouzar, PhD, U-M Research Assist. Professor of Radiology, and Kourosh Kalayeh, PhD, U-M postdoctoral research fellow in the Dept. of Urology; both were undergraduates in Iran. The dream of democracy in Iran began with the constitutional movement (1905-1907) and continues today with frequent, massive uprisings and anti-government protests. Why did the dream fail to take place? What are the political, sociological, and religious obstacles to democracy in Iran? How did Iran become the heart of concerns in the Middle East and worldwide; and where is Iran heading? Join us in-person in the Chapel or on Zoom.

FUMC Softball Come cheer for the FUMCSoftballers! Only two games left: Thursdays, July 28 and August 4. Both games are at 8:35 pm on Field 2 at Veterans Park, Ann Arbor.
