The Lassen Grizzly Claybreakers attended the 2022 US Open Youth Clay Shooting National Championship in Las Vegas last month, vying against competitors from across the country and walking away with top honors in the competition.

The Claybreakers’ Varsity team placed 1st overall, with the JV team placing 3rd.

Cameron Wattenburg, (195) who shot his first fifty straight, was the top shooter for the JV team, and won first place overall as the JV National Champion.

Aidan Divine, (195) who also shot ninety-nine straight, was top shooter for the Varsity team and participated in a shootout for a podium spot.

In July 2002, state law designated the CHP as the statewide coordinator for California’s AMBER Alert program. Since the first AMBER Alert activation in August 2002, 376 children or at-risk individuals have been found safe because of the state’s emergency alert system designed to recover missing children or at-risk individuals by employing the public’s assistance.

The CHP issues an AMBER Alert at the request of a law enforcement agency investigating the abduction of a child or at-risk individual.

For an AMBER Alert to be issued, the CHP works with local law enforcement to confirm:

• a child 17 years old or younger, or at-risk individual, has been abducted or taken;

• the individual is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death;

• and there is information available that if shared with the public, could assist in the safe recovery of the individual.

As the AMBER Alert program has continued to evolve and through the years, the CHP has added secondary distribution methods to supplement the emergency alert system.

These include the Wireless Emergency Alerts program, which is operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission; the California Department of Transportation’s Changeable Message Signs on freeways; @CHPAlerts on Twitter; and the California Lottery displays AMBER Alerts on digital terminal signs and printed on lottery tickets.

According to Ackley, Lassen County’s District Attorney Melyssah Rios worked alongside four

other north state District Attorneys to reach the settlement with PG&E.

The money was disbursed to the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce, the Westwood

Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lassen Fire Safe Council, the Lassen County Office of

Education, Lassen Community College and Lassen County Volunteer Fire Departments.

The business men of this place are enthusiastic for the Journal’s ‘get-acquainted’ excursion to this county, and arrangements will be made to entertain the Reno boosters.

While no details have been perfected as yet it has been suggested that the train be met at Hot Springs on the N. C. O. with carriages and autos and bring the entire party up the valley to Susanville and after some informal entertainment, return them to Doyle by the way of the South side of the valley.
